I've heard promising results of their implementation of this on Xbox systems.
I imagine it works better on some games than others

Never mind applying HDR to previously unsupported games, I'd settle for Windows recognising an HDR supported title and switching to HDR automatically.
Is there any reason not to register for this window insider program ?
Indeed and not randomly.switching off.hdr when I switch between applications mucking up my colour settings.This.
I haven't noticed windows messing up colour settings but I also haven't used many games which support HDR.
More native support would go down well
A lot of people get a washed out effect (myself included) when HDR is on in Windows so have to use NCP to adjust contrast. Until they fix that, auto switching is pointless for me as I would still have to change those settings. To be honest I'm happy leaving it on but better implementation is needed from Microsoft.
I've found in games that use it well, it makes a huge difference and the colours pop. Cyberpunks' neon and sunsets are stunning and it's noticeable when it's applied.
windows HDR just flat out doesnt work. everytime i enable it, the colours are washed outhttps://www.guru3d.com/news-story/auto-hdr-coming-to-windows-10-pc-for-dx11-and-dx12-games.html
Previously Xbox Series X-S exclusive new technique to apply HDR automatically to DX11-12 games (which lacked HDR) now you can test on PC if you have dev build or wait for it to be released when its fully tested!
POP OS is good for gaming especilaly for vulkan titlesThe more new features coming to market the more and more we learn that actually Windows is a ducking horrible operating system for games! We need something new!
Take cyberpunk as example. No problems here with HDR in games on windows.
If HDR isn't working, it is more likely that the developer hasn't done it properly, as if it was a problem with windows then HDR wouldn't work at all....
It is a faff though having to switch it on/off in windows settings depending on the game though!
That's the developers fault though, not Windows.Take cyberpunk as example.
Washed out colours when hdr Is enabled
division 2 alsoThat's the developers fault though, not Windows.
Division 2 works fine for me. In fact it's one of the best examples of hdr on windows as I don't even need to switch HDR on in windows settings for HDR to activate. Most of ubis games are great for HDR on windows, Assassins creed odyssey and far cry new dawn are also flawless.division 2 also
That's the developers fault though, not Windows.
And yet works flawlessly on consoles mhm may Hdr for Windows is too hard
