Autumn Budget 2022

Yep - but we can either moan that it should have been started years ago, or just get with on it now !
These ******** do nothing, and get on with nothing, they've appointed yet another person to some role where they try to make Brexit look good, after 6 years all Moggy could manage was a wish list of things that might happen by the public suggestion.
They haven't contemplated a new reactor bar the ones allegedly underway, as Brexit becomes an issue with services under French EDF backing.

They really need to start to dip into the superwealthy's increasingly deep pockets, by removing non-dom tax exemptions, and various other arsing about matters, the whole dividends thing is finally a step in right direction, how capital gains and dividends had more tax free allowance than actual income tax was utterly bewildering.

Did they mention pensions at all, or pension allowances?

So reducing taxes is bad, increasing taxes is bad and effectively keeping them the same is also bad - your really couldn't make this up..

It's been a competency void since Cameron bowed down to UKIP so don't expect anything better until they purge all the Kippers...

Rather than make taxes higher there is another way with state ownership or partnership, particularly with energy and other utilities. Don't forget this works well for the Europeans (and they are profiting from owning our utilities and transport) and they are the closest socially and politically to us.

Non doms need to end.

Companies need to pay more tax.

Tory Kipper swivel eyed budgets need to stop.

That's just for starters, it is quite possible just not with this lot of muppets.

All those things are bad for different people, not exclusive to each other.

Massive tax cuts ala Kwasi would have been good for the common person but would have absolutely bankrupt the country and almost certainly put us on the path towads hyper inflation like countries such as Venezuela. Tax rises are bad for the common person but allows a country to stay solvent.

As a nation we have a HUGE IOU to payback after covid and schemes such as furlough and T&T.

The Autumn budget is not helping middle class workers at all, we are definitely feeling the pinch now. I think what is frustrating is that we get no help at all apart from the £66 a month on our energy which is looking to stop next year.

The thing is they need middle class workers to buy coffees and lunches, for example bacon butties from bakeries have shot up £2.50 in Covid now £3.90! Takeaways are overly expensive can't remember the last time but a Pizzahut or Dominoes are around £30 when you could probably get one the local superstore for around £4. We may get a Kebab every now and then but they are about £20 now so don't bother.

I've cancelled off subscriptions NOW TV and Spotify and probably going to a sim only contract when I've paid off my current one. Fuel is another massive punch in the gut, i used to be able to fill my car up on £60 now £50 gets me about just over half a tank.

Christmas this year we had to cut down massively especially on the Children which hurts massively, id hate to think how lower paid workers cope with a family and buying for children this is definitely year of discontent, normally i get excited for Christmas but this year it's just feels like "what is my energy bill this month", "cannot spend to much on gifts", "making sure all the lights are off", "better not put the heating on".

We used to go on holiday every year could get amazing deals for a family of 4 in the £2000 / £2500 bracket on monthly payments, now it's £4000! so that wont be happening for some time if not years.

Unfortunately its time like these which separates the rich from the poor.

In a way its artificially stopping the middle class levelling and becoming rich.

They wouldnt have been good for the common person though as you explained in your second point.

Completely agree. Spending is going to have to wind back a lot. I think they expect this to happen as they referred to wanting to use the budget to get inflation under control as well.

Working/Middle/Professional class is where they are aiming to take some chunks out of inflation

The poor can't fix it they aren't spending anything but on surviving anyway
The rich aren't going to fix it, they are basically isolated from inflation and pain, their spending will not be affected unless inflation was thousands of %

So the middle (probably 70% from the 21%-90% bracket roughly) need to be put through pain to reduce their spending and help turn the economy around.

Its a blunt tool, but it will affect enough to help fix inflation and the budget.

Quality of life for these people is going to suffer or you need to be in a somewhat lucky position in order not to.
If your in a good safe well paid job, and mortgage free or virtually mortgage free you will probably get away with it not feeling too bad and seeing a notable degradation in living.

Bit OT, I don’t know why I’ve been sent a letter saying I qualify for the warm home discount.

I receive the qualifying benefit but I’m not the bill payer. Says online you have to be named on the account.

This is rubbish tbh, as are most of your views on nuclear.
www.euronews.com/green/amp/2022/10/17/these-eu-countries-are-aiming-for-100-per-cent-clean-power-by-2030

Germany will be 100% renewable by 2035. Norway is already almost 100% renewable.

My views on Nuclear are simply the view of the experts within the nuclear industry .

The nuclear industry itself sees no future in nuclear

This topic has been discussed to death in SC

Exactly so people should just suck it up and stop whining - only a fool would have thought that the covid support wouldn't come back to bite.
Looking back I feel a fool I worked right through covid where I could have had a few months off work with family. What's more, now i'm having to pay for everyone else's holidays
