Remind me again when we get to post #464. Post #46 hints that some on benefits consider getting a job not woth it.

I think I’m gonna have a hard time finding an employer who is willing to employ someone on palliative care who has to lie down 80% of the day.
That's a shame. You must have been a better situation a few years ago.

This seems to be getting a bit personal.

Getting full time work from home jobs is much harder now than 2 years ago.

Last time I was fit enough to work was around 6 years ago. I did search but there was nothing back then.

Dont even justify it Rob. My brother was fit for work 48 hours ago, he didnt wake up yesterday. Theres a lot of division and resentment between people that needs to stop because we all should have a common aim.

We can do better then take aim at each other no?

Wow, I’m really sorry to hear that mate. I hope you and your family are coping.

I'm fortunate that I'm earning a reasonable wage. But just me. My wife is on just about the minimum so we'll be surviving off my pension and the state pension. And whatever little pensions she had before becoming a mother and kissing her career goodbye (out of choice ).

The pressure on my shoulders really does get to me.

Does make me wonder if I should return to Europe or further afield.
.

Can you expand on this because i dont see how those things can be at war
If i had to guess it's referring to fiscal and monetary polices pulling in different direction for the last decade. As in fiscal policy was trying to reduce the amount of money in the economy while monetary policy was trying to increase it, the governments fiscal policy was trying to reduce spending, the amount of 'new' money going into the economy via cuts to public services (austerity) while the central bank was trying to increase the supply of money through quantitive easing.

Then when inflation started to climb the central bank tried to reduce the amount of money in the economy by raising interest rates but Kwasi and Truss then tried to increase the amount of 'new' money going into the economy via increased spending on tax giveaways.

The Autumn budget is not helping middle class workers at all, we are definitely feeling the pinch now. I think what is frustrating is that we get no help at all apart from the £66 a month on our energy which is looking to stop next year.

The thing is they need middle class workers to buy coffees and lunches, for example bacon butties from bakeries have shot up £2.50 in Covid now £3.90! Takeaways are overly expensive can't remember the last time but a Pizzahut or Dominoes are around £30 when you could probably get one the local superstore for around £4. We may get a Kebab every now and then but they are about £20 now so don't bother.

I've cancelled off subscriptions NOW TV and Spotify and probably going to a sim only contract when I've paid off my current one. Fuel is another massive punch in the gut, i used to be able to fill my car up on £60 now £50 gets me about just over half a tank.

Christmas this year we had to cut down massively especially on the Children which hurts massively, id hate to think how lower paid workers cope with a family and buying for children this is definitely year of discontent, normally i get excited for Christmas but this year it's just feels like "what is my energy bill this month", "cannot spend to much on gifts", "making sure all the lights are off", "better not put the heating on".

We used to go on holiday every year could get amazing deals for a family of 4 in the £2000 / £2500 bracket on monthly payments, now it's £4000! so that wont be happening for some time if not years.

Yep - I'm with you on that !!
I saw a chart which showed I'm in the earning bracket of the hardest hit financially on tax, plus the EV tax coming too :/

But all that said - It appears like a budget which benefits the country as a whole, and long term should improve opportunity and living standards so I'm happy to take the hit.
