This is going to be a bloated disaster. They need to keep the number of heroes tight, not 20+. Even if half of those are cameos then that's still twice as many as is good.

Has it got the wrong Captain America in it?
I think there was like 30+ in the last 2 billion dollar Avengers films and people lapped it up. I don't think it will be the same this time, but I can see the reasoning.

Infinity War and Endgame were the culmination of the Infinity Saga (MCU Phase 1-3)
Doomsday and Secret Wars will be the culmination of the (much less successful) Multiverse Saga (MCU Phase 4-6).

Ah well; I haven't kept up with Marvel but I thought Doom was a new character so making this the climax seems a little off.

Indeed, he was pretty much just a small role in GOTG, he had a tiny appearance in Avengers where I don't think he even had any lines?
He was slowly built up in a franchise that was at the time booming, it worked in that context.
I can't see the current MCU iteration allowing for that, there isn't enough of a market for an "Avengers" movie with C and B tier superheroes to pull a long term multi-arc story. A lot of the major next gen MCU cast that were intended to take over have done nothing but flop movie-wise, even Mackie taking over a major role with Captain America went down about as well as a turd in a urinal. The original Avenger cast worked because while having their own movie series, they also had charisma and worked together well, nobody in the new lot does or will, how can they? There's no healthy or positive setup, which is probably why they're flooding the movie with a metric ton of characters and hoping something sticks.
I'd be willing to bet £50 this is the first "Avengers" movie flop tbh.

I remember watching that post credits cameo in the cinema and not being a comic fan, I had no idea who that was.
