..i cant remember....
Question, Has anybody actually had a conviction from a set of average speed camera's?? :confused:

I see them all the time on the M1 / M6 and also small section of A1 now....have seen various people not realize and speed past etc

Normally you here somebody moaning "Caught flashed the other day...." but never heard anyone say that they have been done by one of these???

Is it just a visual deterant? Have you been caught by one? :(

I wouldn't want to test 'em tbh, hit the cc and let the other folks go speeding past.

This - if you think your time is that important then you need to re-evaluate your priorities.

<grammar nazi>
Also, apostrophes denote possession not plural, so "speed cameras" not "speed camera's"
</grammar nazi>

I've never come across these, so a question: Can you change lanes and it's smart enough to realise?

Course they can, they record your reg number - why would they need to be any smarter to realise?

Not sure if they've updated them recently, but you used to be able to change lanes and they couldn't track you.

Lulwut? Pub banter rules doesn't it?

A friend of mine got caught by them about 6 months back I have to drive through the ones up around junction 25 of the m1 every day :(

I think average speed cameras have slightly more leeway than standard ones. They're still incredibly annoying. Whole sections of motorway which you could easily do 70 on have a 50 limit and average cameras all along them. For no reason. At all.

Over 10 miles it adds 4 minutes to your day, is that really such a hardship?

Whilst they were technically able, they were not permitted by law to track cars that changed lanes. So "could not" is perfectly correct.

"He still claimed - without spelling out any detail - that this loop-hole was not actually foolproof and that some of those who attempt to use it will still face a speeding prosecution."

Sounds like under some circumstances you could be prosecuted, so its not a get out of jail free card.

I assumed he essentially meant that on stretches where there are several sets of cameras, if there were two lanes, you could switch lanes and avoid the second set picking you up but the third set would compare you to either the first set or the second set.. if you get my drift.
