Average UK salary by age

So the question is, was there an even set of numbers and these are the halfway between the two or was it an odd set with a lone median?

Pfft, GD, never with the specifics behind the claims.

The thing is these figures are an average, but will be kinda skewed by the very high earners.

So average being £40k, you'll probably find most people will be earning less than that, whilst the few that earn more earn a lot more.

It's depends what you have to do for that salary as well. 35 hour lax job, Vs busting your backside say 60 hour high stress job.

What I'm saying is, with most statistics, they are mostly meaningless.

They're median figures, not averages, so there's an equal amount of people either side of those figures.

Interesting thread op. Presumably things are weighted a bit higher here due to the demographics?

Reddit is an absolute cesspit when any threads like this pop up

Funny i saw this article on the BBC this morning as it made me remember about OP. Everyone's poor, says this BBC article, or it says you should be outraged with something. I'm not entirely sure of the message trying to be delivered.

“I studied and worked hard to get a job that pays a great salary, but I feel like I’m being punished for having children," she says.

Because of her £150,000 salary, Yasmin does not qualify for Child Benefit payments, or help via tax-free childcare or 30 hours free childcare.

She acknowledges that her income classifies her as a high earner, but says: "You still have to pay the gas and the electric and that's gone up a lot."

One of her main concerns is around energy bills this winter.

I was just about to post the same. I literally laughed out loud when I read the £150k one :D

I can think of plenty of people in their forties, under 40k a year, in Stoke. But I was always told that a good target was Age x 1000 for a wage, which kind of works up here in Stoke if you don't have mountains of debt from poor life choices when younger. I keep seeing jobs down near London for laughable wages though.
