Dunno if this classes as a medical thread, I assume not though since its hardly medical and im not asking for a medical solution.

Recently my right wrist has been paining a bit, it comes in bursts and usually stops after I leave the computer a while. Could be due to all this writing im doing while revising, but its probably due to my mouse usage or something.

What do you lot generally do to avoid it (besides the obvious, taking a break). I know you can get those squashy things for your keyboard, but are there similar things for mice?

I play guitar as well but I doubt thats causing the problem, who knows.

any ideas?

At work one of the first things we get people to try is a track ball. You use your fingers to control it instead of your wrist.

Horrible nasty things IMO, but I can see how they can help wrist pain.

check the height of the board/tray (or what ever its sat on)which your keyboard and mouse is on if its too high or too low it wont be good.

I think they have to provide you with a KB and mouse wrist rests by law. If you work on a comp all day though getting it is pretty inevitable.

I play instruments, and it could be either that's causing it. If you practice heavily and play through pain, or have exceptionally bad practicing habits, you'll get RSI, and same if you spend a whole bunch of hours typing and stuff.

Maybe a powerball might help? Pritty sure one of their pruposes was to combat RSI and similar problems. Not sure if its valid in this case though. Just a suggestion.
