Awesome dad is awesome...

Some funny answers to this thread but I don't think they were s'posed to make me laugh so much. :-)

OP
Good luck to you lad. :-)

People are just jealous. If i got a free house and a gf i doubt i would bother working. Not many things you need a job for tbh, 1 is a roof over your head, another is for food, and the 3rd is for luxury items, such as money for going out and internet tv etc. If you already have a house and JSA covers the rest then why would you work? I know i wouldn't.

nail, head

if I could live rent free, id play xbox all day and watch skyHD as well all for £60 a week, it be awesome, plus free prescriptions, eye tests, dentist etc, who wouldn't want to be a benefit monkey if they had a dad who bought them a house.

when i moved out of my parents and in with my fiance i lost my JSA because she then became my provider (or something) and so i wasnt entitled to anything any more.

ive not read the thread so dont no if you have sorted this already :p

A great social worker you're going to make, handing out life inspirational advice like that.

Wow. I bet he's really living it up on £53 pw!

What he spends it on is his own affair. God knows jobseeking is soul destroying enough in the current climate without the Daily Mail Brigade having a good rant about him living in the lap of luxury.

If this isn't a joke, how embarrassing for you.

Wondered regarding this...

JSA paying too much perhaps?

yea 55 quid a week is definitely too much...

honestly go and try and live on £55 a week bearing in mind that non spoilt people have to pay for

food
electricity
gas
water
clothes
soap
travel
phone
etc

with it and thats not even considering internet or any cards or loans you might of had whilst you had a decent job

try it for a week even... it doesn't work out , its impossible for most

OP is no doubt living on cards/overdrafts or has a total misunderstanding of finance. or maybe just sits naked hungry and smelly watching sky all day which would be his choice

It sits in the same banding as people who use their benefits for cosmetic surgery for me. It's an unnecessary luxury on money that isn't his.

I'm pretty sure he'd have been paying taxes when he was in work so in actual fact, it is his money. Besides, what he does with the money the Government is willing give him while he tries to find a job is entirely up to him and deserves no judgement for what he spends it on. If you've got a problem, get in touch with good ol' David in Number 10.

Totally agree.

It's the fact that so many people don't have a problem with it and that benefits are so readily available is why this country is in the smelly brown stuff that it's in.

personally i think the fact that we have so many idiots in good jobs who believe stories about everyone on benefits being rich is the real reason the country is how it is

I have no problems with people who are actively trying to secure a job but I do have a problem with layabouts who do the bare minimum to claim JSA and other benifits and never actually get a job.

You seem to be forgetting the huge amounts legally avoided by the wealthy via obscure loopholes, or the amazing tax deals Vodafone et al get by taking the head of HMRC to lunch. Morally and ethically, what is the difference?

To all of you stating "the money isnt his" it clearly is as the benefits people have given it to him.

OP also stated he has worked in the past, no doubt paying into the benefits pot.

So I've worked now solid for the past 7 years or so, house with mortgage, BB, Bills and I get fired/made redundant. I claim JSA while I look for a job.....

Everyone gonna go all benefits nazi on me despite me paying into the whole thing thru PAYING tax??

It's not as if OP is a chronic dole scrounge now is it?
Jesus wept people get some perspective.

One thing tho OP, I hope you've told them yer missus lives with ya.
Good luck with the job searching :)

Surely the idea of benefits is to pay for essentials, not luxuries? That's not benefits, that's just a handout.

Moothead, I completely agree and to the OP, all the best with the job hunt.

No, he doesn't. But that's the amount the government is paying out. It's not the OP's fault and he hasn't stole it. What do you want him to do with this spare money?

Skills training / courses etc. to help find a new job would be a good start, certainly a more productive use for it than Sky HD. Just a random idea.
