Awesome idea

I've got an awesome amazeballs idea for an application for phones and tablets that I would use everyday like.

I know precisely -1 about 'puters and applications, what would be the best way of developing this into my award winning app of the year returning gazzollions of pounds so I can carry on my opulent lifestyle of coconut oil powered tea cup ride whilst sipping Beluga caviar floating in nettle tea?

Can I pay someone a pittance to do all the hard work?

Everyone replying will get one free download, I won't even charge you the 99p

:)

I work for a company that develops apps (not the bit I work for), and we get so many people phoning through with what they consider great ideas, but they only have a very rough outline of an idea and no money.

If you seriously want to get it produced, then do some real research into your market and competition, and produce a design document as well as looking into how to protect your IP before you start. Also be prepared to invest some money into paying a developer, as offering shares in an app they're doing all the real work for and that may come to nothing doesn't make them happy bunnies :p

Recall seeing at least two or three other threads just like this one and have not heard anything from them since...

Regardless as others have said, protecting your IP is tough and not cheap.

I love it when people come to me with a "brilliant idea" because one of my talents is finding flaws to basically anything.

Pitch it to me, I guarantee within 5 minutes I can poke so many holes in it you look to your past self and go "You're a moron, past me".

£10k doesn't sound like enough. That's about three months for a cheap developer, maybe a month for a good developer. Though if everything was based heavily on open source frameworks then maybe.

edit: People develop phone apps as a hobby, because it's fun. It's dimly possible you'll find someone who is sufficiently excited by your idea to code it in their free time, but not without telling people the idea

In for a free app :)

Am also a QA Analyst and I have experience in testing apps before they go to market :) Message me if you need a tester for the project (if it gets of the ground that is...oh and I will take shares in the app profits as payment)

If you're still at the stage where you think your idea is unique, and must be kept secret, you have a long way to go.

I looked into it, have several ideas which aren't catered for, could be sold at a premium due to their nature and the "competion" is crap and charge mega bucks like £15 and do an utterly retarded job. However don't have the 10k+ needed to make such apps, or the nessecary programming skills.

If your app idea is that great then the developer will be willing to split the return with you for little outlay on your part.

It's a big 'if' though.

trust me if you need any assistance with Intellectual Property. Might be able to help you in that area!

Managed to get a friend of mine very cheap time (next to nothing) with one of our TM Attorneys, I'm sure I could do the same for any other area of IP :)
