Aygo Crazy 200BHP

It was review in the News of the World motors section, I did not take the pic or make up the stats, I just posted it from another forum and the NotW

And what is with some of the comments aimed at meet, dont shoot the messenger please.

I'm sure they are made up figures.

Are we sure it doesn't have about 150 brake?

Would suit the 0-60 time more.

But if it's true.. it needs a better diff to get the power down!

Its probably running a standard aygo engine, but with uprated elements to acheive a 7.5 0-60 and 127 top speed.

Nah, it only comes with a 1litre 3 pot (think its about 65bhp?) even strapping a turbo to it wouldnt break 100bhp.

How big is the engine bay in one of these? Would a 1.8T even fit?

Absolutely pointless car. People that have £35k for a car surely wouldnt even consider buying this pathetic rollerskate and the only people that would consider buying it wont be able to afford it.

What the? 200 bhp and 7.5sec, and only 127mph?

Also why do they need a turbo charger to extract 200bhp from a 1.8l petrol engine? Sounds like a crap engine they choose to start with.

I read the news article today (the paper was left in the staff room at work I'll add :p) and the stats quoted are the same as was in the paper - I thought them odd too, slow top speed and poor 0-60 for a small car with high power :). Its not FWD according to the article, the engine is in the back and its RWD ala Clio V6!

As for the engine you're slating though, I believe its a modified version of the 1.8 Toyota VVTi lump found in the Celica 190, MR2, oh and also some Lotus, Elise 111R or something I think ;)

(Yes I know its a decent lump especially in the lightweight Elise, and 'only' 200bhp after turboing it is poor indeed and it could probably be taken far further, but just found it funny that you were slating it as absolute crap when its really similar from your own cars engine :D)

Fair enough I didn't know it was the same engine. I was more thinking they started with a boring ~130/140bhp 1.8l engine and then turbo'd it to 200bhp. But a 2ZZ-GE is 190 in N/A form. So that means they got a grand total of 10bhp from the turbo? That's why I assumed it wasn't this engine...

A turbo on the 2ZZ-GE engine should get it up to 250bhp quite easily. Lotus fits superchargers and gets it to 260bhp and even ~300bhp on their GT3 racing car.

So yeah I stand by it. 200bhp from a 2ZZ-GE with a turbo charger is an utterly crap effort.

Obviously it's all in the ECU mapping. But surely Toyota aren't that bad at it!?
