Azureus is annoying me

just set it higher in preferences?
You dont understand, what if I have two torrents open, say each one has around 10,000 people on it, one torrent I maybe fine with only 50 peers connected, but the other I need 200, I cant set each one manually.
Now your probably wondering why I just dont set both to 200, well this clogs up my internet and I can't browse there net, in turn the download is slow anyways.
I think i'll use utorrent when downloading say one torrent, and use azureus when downloading two or more, I've never found Azureus to be a demanding application at all runs in the background all the time even when I play games, depends on your pc I guess and i've got a good pc.
utorrent does use less resources i checked it out, just wish it had this one feature.

I'm sure it would only slow down your internet browsing if you had set your upload to above say 75% of your maximum.

No, too many connection is a issue also, thats why the default for each torrent is 50, I increase it till my internet screws up then i'll put it down a bit.

sure it does, run 3dmark or fraps when gaming and and see the slowdown with az running

-not a gamer, do a virtualdub conversion with az enabled, and then with utorrent enabled

the difference is noticable, on any pc

I do everything with it on, my cpu usage with it current on/internet explorer on/digitv on is 8-11% and it uses 75mb ram atm, when you got 2gig its not exactly pushing my system when im gaming or doing anything else.

each to his own i guess

i have a good pc too, but i use the lightest functional apps i can so it stays hella fast, -winamp lite with a classic skin, media player classic, 7zip, utorrent etc etc

Suppose it makes sense, utorrent certainly loads faster than azurues, i'll continue to use it when downloading on torrent at a time.

i've never used az myself so i dont miss any features.. but my housemate used to run it on his xp2500+, 1gb ram -it'd really kill his machine, utorrent worked wonders for it

and there's no way in hell it'd load on our pii400 box!, utorrent worked fine on this too

have always used it for multiple torrents, and it maxes out my 10meg with them loaded

I'm only on a 2GHz XP-M and I don't find Azureus CPU-intensive at all. Or a memory hog (unless you've got something like 6 torrents active at once  ). It does hog up lots of bandwidth, but hey, that's what I'm running it for, and I could cap its max download as well as its upload if I wanted!:D

Be wary that uTorrent has protocol encryption off by default... thoroughly read the settings dialogues.

Btw, I hate java, java apps use too much ram. I think sun need to re-make java!

Has anybody tried compiling Azureus in GCJ? It would eliminate the need for it to run on the Java Virtual Machine. I'd like to compare the performance between the JVM version and the native version.
