B-Grade checks

Bought a 7770 a while ago for my bro. Has the weirdest stutter issues ever even in videos.

I really don't think they test the returns that well.

I totally agree. We know about the panel lottery, and even if it's been returned pristine with all accessories, there's a good chance that the previous buyer was annoyed by the BLB, or it had dead pixels, or some such thing that the manufacturer considers "acceptable" and "normal" :/

Still got the same rights to return it though for whatever reason.

But agreed on certain monitors with common major issues. You sometimes see 10+ in B grade. Chances are they will all be rejects for issues.

I'm trying to buy a B grade GPU at the mo but first attempt was not available when it came to packing. Same with my last order for a monitor but the refund was instant after a phone call and I blagged another which was fine and a bargain with a -48% discount.

They're chasing the order now but I also specified another on the list just in case the first one is indeed already sold.

These are usually more impulse buys for my secondary systems as I do stick to new stuff for my main gaming system.

:)

I think they need a buyer beware banner as you may have to persevere to get anything.

First two RX 470s not available so I've bumped up to a RX 480 Nitro+ and hopefully that'll turn up tomorrow.

OK so got myself a B-Grade ROG Swift TN 2560x1400....and to me it looks brand new , all the leads and what not were in the box , but i will wait and see how things go :)

well my card arrived today and i honestly couldn't be any happier card is spotless and most importantly my haribo was included also. registered on EVGA website and looks like warranty is in place with option of extending too.

just running some benchmarks and everything is looking fine runs a lot cooler than my 1060 G1 by looks of it.

next thing on my list is a monitor now.

So when they say it's 90 days warranty is that just with OCUK and after the 90 days you have manufacturer warranty to fall back on. 90 days on some cheap components ain't bad but on a £400 monitor i would not feel comfortable.

Apart from not having the protective plastic on the GPU I wouldn't have known it may have been used. No dust or finger marks on it and all paperwork and port protectors present.

So looks to have been worth the effort of chasing a couple of the elusive GPUs on the B grade list.

Ok thanks, never really buggered about with benchmarking stuff, have run a couple of shortish tests all good so far, will report back for the benefit of others in a day or two.
Despite my early reservations regarding the poor cosmetic condition of the Fury X I think I rather did get a bargain after all as my fps in the games I play has gone up around 40% compared to the OC'd R9 290.
I think maybe they should clarify in the B grade description the reason/condition more clearly, as I'm now super wary about B grade stuff!

OK so I have had about a week or so use now, alas real life stuff needed sorting out.., my girlfriends Mitsibishi Outlander stripped the gear teeth driving the engine balance weights so I've had to take the sump and timing cover off to replace the drive gear assembly and coupling at great expense..., whilst shes been using my car for work...(I walk)

Well the B grade Fury X although looking a bit used appears to perform ok, there is no pump noise that I can detect but oh my the coil whine!!!!!
Its so bloody loud, you couldn't leave the case side cover off as it would send you over the edge!
It alters quickly just web browsing but when under load in some games its nuts!, some games dont effect it much but others like World of Warships it buzzes and screams changing note all the time depending on whats displayed, even in the menus!!

I think for the price (£275)and the possible upgrade to Vega later Ill stick with it and wear headphones!!
I would only go through the hassle of RMAing it to get a standard Fury anyway so cant be bothered with the hassle, I will just be more careful with B grade choices now.

90 days with ocuk and then manufacturer for the balance.

Not normally an issue. With my NEC monitor which developed a fault after two years, they shipped me a new one and collected the old one. Probably better than if I had tried to deal with OCUK even if I could have.

Suppose it all depends with how the monitor manufacturer deals with their warranty.

It does seem to be a lottery with b-grade. I bought a R9 290 once and came in a static bag with nothing else but wrappings. Failed after 3 months waited a month for a replacement and that was faulty too seemed ok most of the time but stress it out gaming and it would bug out, overheating component presumably. I sold it for spares/repair in end as I'd lost patience by this point I thought "never again". I've bought a new cards ever since and had zero problems.
