just reject the card and tell them to replace with something else or you will go via small claims. i'd not be wasting my time jumping through hoops to get a warranty honoured.
exactly this. ocuk used to be absolutely top notch for their CS, was worth the few extra quid it usually cost to buy from here but their CS has gone to the crapper since covid, to the point i couldn't tell you the last item i bought off here of value - i also no longer point folk to here when looking for pc bits and bobs - which is a shame as i'd much prefer to be buying from ocuk than some of the larger e-tailers i now use.yes, a "good will gesture" would have been nice, as you are supporting OCUK, as there are many other places to buy from, some with superb return and replacement policies.

No, I will not sell this card to make it someone else's problem. I got tegridy.Have you considered just selling it like you did before? it might be an easier way to wash your hands of the whole situation if OCUK won't budge. We don't really know OCUK's perspective, it might be that they still couldn't find a fault with your first card and just replaced it out of good will due to your persistence and the intermittent nature of the fault.
Otherwise, just keep pushing and you might be able to get a standard 9070 with a bit of perseverance.![]()
He has already had to suffer postage costs for the original sale plus the return, anyone buying off eBay is going to return the card again for coil whine so he'll be out of pocket 4 times over on postage costs.Have you considered just selling it like you did before? it might be an easier way to wash your hands of the whole situation if OCUK won't budge. That sounds horrible. I'd consider RMAing my head. I'd even accept a B-grade replacement. The card is 2 years old and it seems the customer understands and is happy to get a used replacement even if it had some cosmetic wear on it.
Armageus is also right that coil whine can depend on the PSU, however if the customer didn't have coil whine on the previous card its unlikely to be their PSU and yes that B-Grade card was probably returned because on that coil whine, given the manufacture doesn't accept coil whine returns OCUK's choices are take the loss or or put it in B-Grade with 3% off the full retail price, notice that quite often B-Grade stock have a token price reduction that amounts to almost nothing. And pass it on to someone who needs an RMA replacement when that opportunity arises.
This suggests they knew it has this problem when they passed it on, which would be kind of sucky, you got lumped with it....
I'm just thinking out loud here, i don't know and my musings are probably complete nonsense but be that as it may Its a bit crap for both sides and it boils down to the manufacture not accepting coil whine cards, which again from their perspective the problem might not be the card at all.
Anyway, as for the noise, i have 6Khz to 7Khz Tinnitus, imagine this noise at about 60db in your head pretty much 24 hours a day 7 days a week, no getting away form it..... Now that really is annoying.

That doesn't sound like a reasonable expectation to me.
I seem to remember a chap called Bailey who used to be really good, has he left OCUK or got another position within the company I wonder..exactly this. ocuk used to be absolutely top notch for their CS, was worth the few extra quid it usually cost to buy from here but their CS has gone to the crapper since covid, to the point i couldn't tell you the last item i bought anything off here of value - i also no longer point folk to here when looking for pc bits and bobs - which is a shame as i'd much prefer to be buying from ocuk than some of the larger e-tailers i now use.
Credit card claim would be freeJust list it as having coil whine, how much will small claims court cost him?
edit: not many games run at 350fps so I would expect it to be quieter in most gaming situations.
Keep pushing back! Don't get screwed over by a multi-million pound company.Thank you all for the replies. I have raise a 3rd ticket with ocuk. A 'complain' one this time. I'll keep you updated.
Not everyone cares about coil whine, I've sold a few whiners (upfront). Maybe they know how to deal with it, or they only play with headphones. No, I will not sell this card to make it someone else's problem. I got tegridy.
Agree here - how often are you exceeding 120FPS in real situations? I only see coil whine in menus, and even then only if I don't use Vsync.edit: not many games run at 350fps so I would expect it to be quieter in most gaming situations.
I tried Cyberpunk, no RT, 100-140 FPS. Coil whine.Agree here - how often are you exceeding 120FPS in real situations? I only see coil whine in menus, and even then only if I don't use Vsync.
What happens if you cap FPS? Or are you keen to over generate frames in 20 year old games like CSGO? Real world testing may be needed here IMO.
When he and 5UB moved roles I noticed a marked downturn in the CS quality. Both were very active on the forums too at one time and would quite often jump into threads like this to help.I seem to remember a chap called Bailey who used to be really good, has he left OCUK or got another position within the company I wonder..
