They could have at least waited until the new year. I understand their reasons for doing this, but at xmas is just plain evil.

Hope they get it sorted out, im supposed to be flying to boston with them on the 23rd .

Looks like we will be adding ba to the list of companies killed by unions at this rate...

This.

Crazy time to do it, they're hurting themselves in the long run, though lots of people will be also be stranded over Christmas now too. :(

I was planning to fly out to Europe over Christmas to visit family, now with BA being on strike, my chances of getting a flight with another carrier are slim to none. Looks like I'll be staying here on my own instead, drinking, eating curry, watching the obligatory Bond film and playing computer games on Christmas day - oh wait a second. . . . :D

My gf just sent me this:

Cabin crew strike ballot - dates announced
We are aware that Unite, the trade union that represents British Airways' (BA) cabin crew, has announced that its strike ballot has closed with a vote in favour of industrial action between December 22, 2009 and January 2, 2010.
We are currently reworking our flight schedules for the strike period and aim to announce them as quickly as possible.
Our intention is to inform affected customers directly if we have their e-mail address or by SMS text if we have their mobile phone number.
We will use the contact details supplied at the time of booking, so we ask customers to please ensure these are correct and up-to-date:

! :(

Er - the whole point of any strike is to cause maximum inconvenience, in order to put pressure on management. Whether you consider the strike justified is another matter (I will assume the usual rule: the more it inconveniences the poster, the less they think it is justified).

looks like another case where reasonableness should be tested and damages paid to customers by the unreasonable party to me.

BA Cabin Crew Strike Over Christmas

I just heard that BA's cabin crew are set to strike between 22/12 and and 2/01. Any BA staff here?

My brother is due to fly home to London from Seattle on 21/12 at 6pm their time which will be 22/12 at 2am. Does anyone know if he'll be stranded in the States?

Apparently they already get double the pay of cabin crew staff from some other airliners and they still think they deserve better :/

At times like this (such large amounts of unemployment) I would like to see a company get rid of all these strikers and employ some more grateful people. Striking at x-mas is so lame, imagine the amount of family get-togethers they could ruin :/ They don't deserve a job.

Guess theres nothing us joe public can do but wait and see what happens. Heres hoping someone see's sense and sorts this mess out.

Dolph is correct though, the way the unions are acting this year, they are doing more damage to the employers of their members, than the good they are doing for their members.

If BA doesnt recover from this, a lot of them could be out of a job anyways.

So does this mean that all flights will stop for BA until 2Jan? I have booked flights for the 28th Dec to Amsterdam, returning on 30th. I hope it doesn't all go **** up!
