Rainbow sheep? There's no black in rainbow. It's a BNP conspiracy.

LOL :) You're right !! Although the rainbow has been pinched by gay and lesbian groups so perhaps this is all a pro gay lobby exercise.

I think someone in the SC thread had this happen to them at university. Might be worth a check.
I should probably rephrase because I wouldn't like to say that it's impossible that some idiot somewhere has thought that it was a good idea. But I'm certain that there's no massive 'PC' conspiracy to try and stop us using the word black.

It's a pro-gay/lesbian/bisexual nazi conspiracy!

You don't think that there have been concerted efforts to change the perception of the public on issues such as race and religion then. You don't think that there has been concerted effort made to ensure that ethnic minorites/women/homosexuals/disabled feel valued and that this has resulted in some utterly crazy and over the top "PC gone mad" suggestions and policies?

Much of this has been going on for around the last 12 years. I guess it is more visible to people who remember life as it was in the 70s.

What? When has that ever happened?
A hospital near me, the nurses got told to say "do you want your coffee without milk" instead of asking if they wanted it black. My old high school the students were told in an assembly that they were no longer allowed to call the blackboard a blackboard.

The TV show "Love thy Neighbour" anyone? :)

I'll bet you could call it a chalkboard though because chalkie isn't racist ;)

My mate Ron is a 6 foot 2 Jamaican, he calls it a blackboard and drinks his coffee black.

He's never been offended by a blackboard or black coffee.

(Mind you he doesn't get offended being called a black ******* either!)

Ahh "the good life" dear felicity, still attractive now.
I've seen her knickers. (well she was carrying them round a shop ready to buy them.....)

I'm not sure whats worse - the handful of morons that come up with these 'rules', or the handful of morons that leap on every little story as evidence of some extensive conspiracy by TrendyLiberals

My dad was on about this yesterday, he said that on the James Whale radio show an african man came on and said the ryhme in his own dialect then at the end of it he said "and just to translate that it is "Baa Baa Black Sheep" and all the kids sing it back home when their young"

That is absolutely retarded. You dont get rainbow coloured sheep.

Next times someone calls me "white" I'm taking them to court. Trying to put me down and all that.

Incidently, I've yet to meet a black person that actually takes ofence to me calling him "black". Honestly.....does anyone here actually give a toss?

Probably the handful of people that keep trying to play down the stories and pretend it is not happening.

For your general edification and betterment, Ladies and Gentlenubbins, I present to you . . . the truth.

Press Release 7 March 2006
PACT has established that children at the two Family Centres mentioned in the press sing a variety of descriptive words in the nursery rhyme to turn the song into an action rhyme. They sing 'happy', 'sad', 'bouncing', 'hopping', 'pink', 'blue', 'black' and 'white' sheep etc. and they also exchange 'boy' and 'girl' at the end of the rhyme. This encourages the children to extend their vocabulary and use up some energy.

PACT does not have a policy to change the words of nursery rhymes to conform to notions of political correctness but we are mindful of the use of language and the changes of usage which make some rhymes more acceptable than others, that said 'black sheep' are not words that we find difficult!

PACT is an organisation that values diversity and above all encourages children to enjoy themselves and have fun!

I'm curious as to what makes it more true, other than the fact that you would prefer it to be true?

Surely it is merely just a conflicting discourse?

Despite your apparent outrage at such egregious PC encroachment into and erosion of our lives, you seem pant-wettingly keen on it not being true.

No - because it is a statement made by those that run the schools on which the newspaper articles are based.

There's no conflict, no discourse, no nothing.
