I should probably rephrase because I wouldn't like to say that it's impossible that some idiot somewhere has thought that it was a good idea. But I'm certain that there's no massive 'PC' conspiracy to try and stop us using the word black.VIRII said:I think someone in the SC thread had this happen to them at university. Might be worth a check.
It's a pro-gay/lesbian/bisexual nazi conspiracy!VIRII said:LOLYou're right !! Although the rainbow has been pinched by gay and lesbian groups so perhaps this is all a pro gay lobby exercise.

A hospital near me, the nurses got told to say "do you want your coffee without milk" instead of asking if they wanted it black. My old high school the students were told in an assembly that they were no longer allowed to call the blackboard a blackboard. What? When has that ever happened?
The TV show "Love thy Neighbour" anyone?VIRII said:Much of this has been going on for around the last 12 years. I guess it is more visible to people who remember life as it was in the 70s.

Source (Emphasis mine).PACT said:Press Release 7 March 2006
PACT has established that children at the two Family Centres mentioned in the press sing a variety of descriptive words in the nursery rhyme to turn the song into an action rhyme. They sing 'happy', 'sad', 'bouncing', 'hopping', 'pink', 'blue', 'black' and 'white' sheep etc. and they also exchange 'boy' and 'girl' at the end of the rhyme. This encourages the children to extend their vocabulary and use up some energy.
PACT does not have a policy to change the words of nursery rhymes to conform to notions of political correctness but we are mindful of the use of language and the changes of usage which make some rhymes more acceptable than others, that said 'black sheep' are not words that we find difficult!
PACT is an organisation that values diversity and above all encourages children to enjoy themselves and have fun!

Despite your apparent outrage at such egregious PC encroachment into and erosion of our lives, you seem pant-wettingly keen on it not being true.cleanbluesky said:I'm curious as to what makes it more true, other than the fact that you would prefer it to be true?
No - because it is a statement made by those that run the schools on which the newspaper articles are based.cleanbluesky said:Surely it is merely just a conflicting discourse?
