Back in a BMW :-)

As I don't commute and do maybe 14 miles a week, the 540i was starting to get a bit long in the tooth.

It is a 1997 car, and all though it runs great, there is little point in me having it to run into town. This is why I got the Smart car. The Smart is great to buzz about in, but if I need to move stuff or people then it won't do.

None of this seems to explain why you have now gone for a 12 year old 320i?

Granted the 540i is probably an all round more capable car, I wanted something a little newer and different.

It's not newer in any appreciable way though, is it? It's still from the same design era - it's just... inferior and registered a couple of years later thats all.

If you'd just bought an E90 325i or something then fair enough, its a more modern car but...

I don't change cars all that often. It cost me £2500 6 years ago, and is still running today. Only a water pump, cat and oil gaskets needed doing.

To me this seems like the obvious thing to do was simply to keep it rather than sell it for next to nothing and instead buy something almost as old but totally unknown and objectively inferior.

The 18" wheels stop the steering being stupidy light vs 16" weels. It feels more solid and looks better.

A 320i feels more solid than a 540i?

What?

What's going on with the arch gap in the back?

Looks like it might have quite new springs on the back - who knows though

Cant understand why you'd want a 320 tbh, it'll have just as many issues as the vastly superior 540i you're getting rid of will despite being a couple of years newer but is frustratingly lacking in power compared to even any of the larger 6 cylinders nevermind a cracking v8.

Also, isnt a 540i a fairly ideal car for buzzing around locally in, for 14 miles per week? Thats what we use our 730i for, just local short journeys.

Whats the point in the smart car? The 540i has a nice slushy auto, which makes it a great traffic and town car.

What the actual fudgecake

This is borderline trolling in my eyes.
Might as well put up a thread about why my Porsche is no longer suitable no the kids have moved out and i only drive on weekends. So i bought a 1.8 diesel zafira instead.

Clearly this is the troll reply.

They don't do a 1.8 diesel Zafira, the diesel is only available in 2.0 DTi or 1.9 CDTi.

Everyone know's this.
