I'm back baby!
I've acquired a PS3 and it came with 9 games, one of which was Call of Duty (Modern Warfare I think).

It was awesome, I completed it in two sittings (8 hours or so). Having had no 'gaming' consoles since the PS2 (only the Wii, which doesn't count) I was blown away by going back to a proper gaming platform.

What else can I get? I have enough football games. I want ones that look immense and play well. War isn't a necessary subject but isn't something I'm against.

I recommend Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. That's a great game.

Definitely :) Really enjoyable game.

I found Killzone 2 pretty mediocre with the single player, not tried the multiplayer yet. Really didn't see the fuss surrounding it.

Bioshock is a brilliant single player experience, very immersive :) I'd also suggest The Orange Box for similar reasons.

Deadspace is my favourite game of the year its a must play and its really cheap now

apart from that Killzone 2/uncharted/metal gear 4 are must plays for me

I really enjoy Everybody's Golf but that may not be for, errm, everybody:p

I agree with you 100% about having a console. I have hardly touched my PC since I got the PS3. It just seems such a polished experience from start to finish. My only regret is not buying one a couple of years ago as I'm pretty sure I would have saved a small fortune in PC upgrades.

You're not a typical male, Gilly is. :p

Yeah because gender is why I don't like it.
I suppose in which case I don't like Gears of War, the CoD series and anything with any element of blood and violence to it too then?

MGS4

Only if you played 1 and 2, otherwise you may as well spend 8 hours bash your face with a rock.

Little Big Planet
Deadspace
KillZone 2
Force Unleased

All brilliant fun and look great.

Killzone 2 rules the roost of mp fps on ps3 at the moment imo .
Hardly any exploits (flying mode god mode ) and no aim assist so they go back to cod 4 .
I suppose i should just give up promoting this game or get better brain washing skills :D
Anyway back on topic gt 5 prologue and resistance 2 are worth a mention as well but obviously gt5 is not the full game .

Don't forget to get Resident Evil 5 - It is good but it is nothing like the old ps1 ones, it is more like resi4. Killzone 2 is good as well.

I picked both up used as new for under £20 each off ebay recently.

Little big planet I can see the appeal but I couldn't get hooked.

Dont forget some of the fantastic PSN games Super Stardust HD, Pixel junk Monsters, Pixel Junk Eden and Flower are must haves, and are pretty unique in their own way.

Resistance 2. It's one of the very few games (count on one hand) that I can play over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

Burnout paradise is such a great game that you could easily put days gametime in (i have put about 2 days in and have not completed it ) There is a strong online community which you can do challenges with which adds a lot of gameplay value.

You'll be able to pick up some excellent bargains now.

In a supermarket the other day I saw Fallout 3 and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for £6 each, new.

Apart from those I'd recommend in no specific order:

Dead Space
Killzone 2
Infamous
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

Meh, just about every game mentioned so far!
