Back to WoW

Don't mean to hijack your thread Agnes, but I have a quick question and didn't want to make a new thread solely for that purpose.

Can anyone give advice on leveling a hunter?. Leveling spec, raid and PVP performance spec, best professions etc. All the hunters in our community last year was BM spec and while I know sweet all nothing about hunters, I'm pretty sure that is a leveling/PVP spec? Their DPS was crappy too.
Or any dedicated WoW Hunter sites worth a look?

Hello Mate,

I've got a hunter. I am currently levelling it solely for grinding purposes. I've got skinning and herbalism professions.

I used to have Level 70's of all characters before I quit. I've started yet again muahahaha but jokes aside, Beastmastery is STILL the way forward to level. Minimal downtime, and you wont die. Its really as simple as that.

I can't post any talent specs as my work computer disallows me to do that. But i'm sure if you look around EJ's or Wow wiki they would have some sample specs.

For your pet, I'd recommend the wolf (level 20) from Ashenvale as you will be questing there anyway (if u're following Guides from BK or Zygor).

Just my opinion!

Currently leveling a hunter alt and have got them from 18-60 in a couple of weeks of casual play.

Been leveling with this spec

BM is the daddy for solo play, if you pickup a tenacity pet you should never pull agro off your pet so its like questing with a prot warrior by your side :)

Once you hit 51 do he Alterac Valley Quests, you just have to be on the winning side and you get a rather nice spear that im still using at 60.

With my Gorllia pet and his ranged AOE threat generation I can take on 4-5 mobs 4 levels higher than me and not get touched, just need an occasional swap to aspect of the viper and throw some mend pets in here and there.

Ive recently tamed a Corehound as my dps pet but the noise they make is to annoying I will be swapping them out to a wolf for the +ap buff they give you, the Shattered Hand ones from the ramparts look decent till I can get a Blighthound from Northrend. Only reason to swap is purely cosmetic :).

Once you hit raiding and endgame stuff most hunters switch to a Survival build which does really ramp up there dps, tho once you go that way you will pull agro from your pet in 1 or 2 autoshots if your going solo. Dual spec with BM if you plan to continue to quest solo and do dailies etc etc without to much hard work :).

Profs as has been mentioned skinning and LW at winners the Armour you make isnt great but some of the additions you can make to drops are very good and very profitable :).

Obviously Cooking, and First aid are handy, fishing to so that you can keep your pet fed.

Not sure on PVP done a bit on a previous hunter on the horde side and he performed well against Clothwearers especially with a ferocity pet as they can just tear them down quickly, as BM you also get beastial wrath, this makes you and your pet immune to fear effects so warlocks and priests loose there major defense against you. Traps are also always useful in WSG as you can slow the sneaky rogues that attempt to stealth to the flag :).

IF theres anything specific you wanna know just ask, Im no expert but ill have go at answering.

I must say that I'm highly impressed with the survivability of hunters. I took on Mor'Ladim earlier and killed him as a lv25 whilst he is a 30 elite and he could not get close to me. Ok, I did have to kite him halfway across the Eastern Kingdoms but still, you could not do that as any other class. Hoping to hit 80 within the next month and see what hunters can do in starter raids.
