Is it possible to mirror backup a RAID 0 setup onto a single disk and then restore it if anything went wrong with no problems using acornis?? Cos ppl say once the backed up partition is restored, XP will not boot.

1. Do I risk going for raid0 and spending money on 2 hdds.
2. is all the setup done from the bios?
3. After youve set it up from the bios, you treat the 2 drives as a single drive, ie formatting installing windows and so on?
4. Instead of reinstalling xp, can I just restore my backed up image of my old single drive?
5. My motherboard has a habbit of resetting the bois if the power fails or if i unplug the power source(but strangly it keeps the time correct). So if the bois resets its self, and if i change the settings back, will all my data still be ok?

Just had a idea,, if I get a single 500gb drive, could I use the 500gb drive and my old 200gb drive in raid 0 to test it?. Then if everything works ok, buy another 500gb drive

yup, will work, downside, it will only raid the the 500gb to 200gb, but it just a test :)

What does that mean, Do I need to put the 500gb in the first raid socket on the board? Im guessin it will only see 400gb?

Also does windows know that the drives are in raid in the device manager, or does it still show 1 drive.

As you can tell Ive never done raid before :D

do I need drivers for xp?

Cos I connected the 2 drives up, enabled the raid, and gone into the raid setup in the bios, and its automatically created raid 0 from the 2 drives using 64bit transfer thing. But when I boot xp from my backup drive, it wants some drivers and theres no new drives in admin tools to create.
