Backup software via FTP?

I'm after some software which does automatic scheduled backups (either full or incremental) to an FTP server.

The mainreason is that I have over 250GB of web space and rather than using an external HDD, it might be best to use this space as it's an offsite backup.

what internet connection do you have?

if it's a standard home internet connection then it'll take forever to upload to it, talking 30-60kb/s ish..

i 'think' ntl have 512kb upload speeds, so that's 64kb/s max

Try Cobian Backup; a nice open-source backup utility that will back up to/from FTP.

WS FTP, I think it has a backup feature check it out. I would encrypt my files on any shared hosting as you don't want your web host yo see your files if they are illegal or just private.

it may be worth checking how fast your line is and how fast it will be with the transfer, this site does a simple speed test based on location, www.speedtest.net
