Ive got a new pc on the way with one 500G hard drive installed.

in the pc i have now, my mp3's are kept on a seperate external drive only and no backups.

Is it best to get another internal drive for my new system to use as a backup drive for mp3's and other files, or get another external drive and store my mp3's on the new pc's HD and backup to an external drive ?

Im thinking that i should store the mp3's etc on my new systems HD and then backup the files to an external HD ?

Does this sound like the best idea?

And any sugestions on which external drive to get, i would like one which automatically backs up and files.

thanks

Can you not just copy your MP3's to your new PC's hard drive, and keep them on your current external drive for a backup?

i could do, but the current external drive is only 160 gig and i need more storage space.

Also its a few years old. Its an ide drive in an icybox.

as fobose says, copy everything to your HD on your pc

and have an external HD to copy to once in a while as a back

you can use snyctoy to automate the copy process and only copy new files or files that have changed instead of everything ....

edit:

sound s like you need to buy a bigger external drive .
