Am I doing it wrong. Networked NAS, 8TB external HDD connected to my MAC.

I currently save all my stuff to the 8tb external, tidy it up, then save to the NAS over my 1gb network using CCC. From what I read online, the recommended way to do it is plug the 8tb into the NAS. then backup the NAS to the 8tb.

I understand USB is much faster, but the initial save is now done, it's just incremental from now on. is it worth changing.

If it works for you why change
Especially if only incremental now
Or try the other method and compare them
The main thing in my eyes is you're actually backing stuff up
So many people don't and disaster strikes eventually

My backups are so convoluted am in the middle
Of writing custom software to automate it lol

Yes, I'll stick with it for now. Sometime in the future I'll need more space and will buy a RAID enclosure for the 8tb. and run a 16tb RAID 0, then try USB to the NAS.

Thanks for your input.
