Lol well it isn't funny really.

My sister freind had should have had her test on the 5th of July at 8.10am, when the day came the driving instructor didn't show up and she couldn't get hold of him & was very upset.

After constant ringing when he did finally answer the phone he hung up on her.

Well she reported him to the DVLA and now he had his driving instructor licence taken off him.

Reason being he didn't show up is because he been out drinking the day before all day & overslept.

Well anyroads she got a new instructor & her test was paid for her as it wasn't her fault she missed it.

She managed to passed with only 2 minors last week.

But she did say how he creep her out on many occasions, when having lessons coming out with inuendos & slight touching her on purpose.

Luckily when i had my test way back in 1993 I had a proper good instructor, it seems these days anybody can be one even the werdios.

So you have you got or had a bad driving instructor?

My driving instructor was ace, cared more about his pass statitics than the money he was making off you.

Really great guy, would reccomened him to anyone.

But my sister, who went for a instructor who drove a mini (rather then one with a good reputation) constantly gave her critcism rather than constructive criticism. Tell her she was nothing but a silly little girl, with no chance of passing - after only 3 lessons.

Funnily enough she changed instructors and passed first time with only 3 minors and one of the only new drivers I have been in a car with and felt relativly safe.

My 1st instructor was a smacktard.

Read magazines while you drove instead of paid attention and whined about his precious alloys on his learner driver Merc A Class.

Total Grade A tool.

My first one taught my mum, was supposed to be great. My uncle and dad had taught me the basics from 16, so first lesson with her I was doing 3 point turns, reverse parking etc.

After 10 lessons she said that one or two more and i'd be ready for my test. Then she never showed up again, couldn't get in touch with her etc.

Ended up going to Newcastle-under-lyme and learning there with an old guy called Jack. Failed my first test due to the man hating female examiner. According to the second examiner I had she has a little trick at a certain junction that she does to fail male drivers :(

Passed 2nd time, 2 minor infringements for not checking over shoulder, just using wing mirror.

We had one instructor round here that had a reputation as being useless, he even fell asleep on several people. Another was a big perv with the girls, still is. My step dad was an instructor, until he drank a bottle of whiskey and managed to roll a car on a straight. Lost licence = lost job!

I think the issue is that lots of young people who have bad instructors are too scared to do anything about it, I had a pretty useless one but I tolerated him because I thought I was in the wrong, I wouldn't stand for it now.

My sisters driving instructor was supposed to be good but he would turn up sometimes an hour late, she still kept him. My instructor was a joke, he didn't tell me something that caused me to fail my test because he obviously wanted me to keep paying for lessons, he also screamed at me one day for using the brake when he was using it (someone pulled out in front of us at the last minute and I went to stop and so did he).

My first one was useless, an AA instructor, more interested in booking up future lessons, then I migrated to my parents for a while then a mate reccomended a guy who had a old Fiesta and love and hate accross his knuckles, he was great, we used to have two hour lessons and just drive around on major roads rather than the AA version of driving round industrial estates, I passed with him after about 10 lessons, but that was wheen lessons were £10 per hour

You got to love urban myths dont you.

No, you failed your first test because your driving did not reach test standard.

I believe it does happen. There was a female examiner I had (and failed with), others (males) have had her 4 or 5 times and failed, then passed with someone else. She was under investigation for her stupid male/female pass rates. If you were male and got her, you were doomed. Now this might all be myth, but I doubt it personally.

How long do you honestly think these man hating examiners would have a job, with the skewed stats hating men or people in green jumpers or any other pet hates would produce?

My first instructor was a joke. Used to make me drive to the bank so he could pay money in, sat there waiting for 15 minutes. He still charged me the full amount!

Then next lesson, I went on a new route which he said was to get me used to country roads. Until he told me to park up and went into his mates to pick up a few dvd's, then have a long chat.

Needless to say I got a new instructor

I have a similar story.

I had a female driving instructor (hawt, 25, blond, propensity to wear short skits, no pics - sorry) and a female examiner. The examiner looked like an old-style school headmistress. When my instructor saw who it was she looked anxious...as if she knew something I didn't.

We started the test. The examiner would sigh and shake her head every so often and jot something down. This was the old fashioned test, with just an emergency stop, 3-point turn and reverse around a corner. All of which I did accompanied with some more sighing and jotting down.

At the end of the test, she said "well done, you have passed".

This is because I could DRIVE A CAR to the REQUIRED STANDARD.

Epic driving examiner myths are epic.

:)

I think I am probably going to be alone in this thread in wishing that my driving instructor HAD made made inappropriate advances.

My first driving instructor was ok to start with, but like after 10 or so lessons he kept making me do the same easy manouvers over and over again and he kept saying "yeah yeah we will do parallel parking next week etc" but still at 15 lessons I hadn't learned parallel parking or even bay parking and I got fed up and decided to change instructors. I found out shortly after changing that my original instructor is known around my village for fleecing money off people for as much lessons as he can and taking absolutely forever to teach people how to drive.

I then rang up another local driving school and got a new guy who only lived a few minutes away and he was a top bloke. He cared more about teaching people to drive more than anything and wasn't money driven at all. Even though my lesson's were for 1 hour most of the time, they used to go on for around 1 hour 20 mins most times and never got charged an extra penny. I had another 15 lessons with him and within the first 3 lessons with him I had mastered bay parking and nearly parallel parking and all my other manouvers! and then I took my test but I failed first time on a roundabout, then after 2 more lessons I had my test again and passed with 5 minors :) That was 2 years ago now and I recommended him to my GF and she passed with him first time too last year. He's a very well known bloke and has no end of students, I remember him telling me a little while ago that he is completely booked up for weeks!

I also had the dis-pleasure of witnessing a complete of a tool AA driving instructor while I was bay parking one day and he was trying to get his student to bay park too, but the whole entire time he just kept saying "no no your doing it wrong! don't do it like that ffs! your useless I didn't teach you like this!" he was just about shouting at the poor lad as well. T***.

I personally think they need to weed out all these bad driving instructors, as there seems more bad ones than good ones these days.

The one i learn with was an old bloke called Alan he was a top driving instructor and learn me the old way to drive ie going though your gears when slowing down, not this block changing they seem to teach today.

But back in the early 90's when i passed, it was much much easier back then, the only questions you got asked were signs on a card lol.

And from what i've heard it get harder still to pass as from this October when they give you a set route to follow without instruction.

My instructor was with the AA, and at the time had a nice brand new Fiesta Ghia, with aircon etc.

However practically the day before the test he changed / lost the AA car and dug up some ancient Renault Clio with a digital clutch (it was worn out and the bite was so high it was on or off)

I had one hour before my test to get used to that nasty car, did not help with nerves.

Second attempt I used my own brand new Fiat Punto, but pulling into the test centre we noticed a slow puncture. Had to get it pumped up, dashed back to the test centre about a minute late, still took the test. But not in the most relaxed frame of mind so failed.

Third time lucky for me.

Mine was an AA guy in thier AA Focus, was really good imo.
The only annoying thing was AA changing his car the DAY before my test, so I took my test in a brand new Focus that I had never driven, where the clutch felt completely different.

Still passed with only 2 minors

I had an amazing Instructor from BSM in a 1.7CDTi Astra.
Was the most expensive at the time but it was definately worth it.

Used to have 2 hours lessons at a time, the way to do it in my opinion. The instructor was an old guy and hardly said a word.

Passed first time with 3 minors.

Now Im curious as to what other people had there lessons and passed in.
