Bad Sectors

I have the hdds in my server set up with stablebit drivepool and scanner.

A HDD was detected by scanner as damaged (16 bad sectors iirc) and I have since replaced it. Data was migrated successfully, bar one file, which I have replaced from backup.

I've full formatted the drive, run a chkdsk and rescanned with stablebit scanner and it now says the drive has no errors and is healthy.

How does a full format fix the drive? Is it avoiding those sectors? Can I trust the drive?

Thoughts?

The sectors were remapped or weren't bad after all. Trust as in continue to use the drive, sure. Always have a backup. Consider using a drive monitoring utility such as Hard Disk Sentinel or StableBit Scanner.
