Bahrain GP Cancelled

Oh look, they send a letter saying they don't want to do it, for the attrocities(barely) in Bahrain, no it would be unbearable for their workers.

So, waiting for FIA to write a bigger cheque for this particular race it would seem. its always about money, unbearable, 2 weeks, with a great wage doing a job they love, unbearable, jesus christ.

Its rare you see a footballer say "lets not have the world cup, its unbearable to have to play extra games", because its pathetic. You aren't sewage workers being asked to work during the great diarrhea epidemic of 2002, this is highly paid staff doing a job millions would love to have, jet set lifestyle, high wages, ultra high profile sport.

The "it would be unbearable" excuse honest to god makes them sound truly pathetic, kind of along the lines of those bratts on MTV saying " Beyonce is too small an act for my birthday party, you're the worst parents ever".

Some people honestly need a slap, and an idea of how half of the world works in actually unbearable conditions.

I didn't say it would be bad, just that i can't see it doing any good...

I fail to see how Bahrain could have solved the issues that led to those protests in such a short amount of time.
Having the GP when things are still so touchy, if you will, seems a little ill thought out.

The teams now also saying they don't want it to happen just adds to that i can't see a whole lot of good coming from having it go ahead.

It is possible that the teams may be negotiating for more money OR for doing less work, for the same amount of money.

As Drunkenmaster stated, you never hear of footballers stating, "lets not have the world cup, its unbearable to have to play extra games", so why are we hearing this from F1 teams?

The excuse they are using is that it is not safe. I promise you, if Bernie offered them more money, those safety concerns would vanish into thin air.

Providing the event is Policed properly (which Bahrain authorities seem to be very hot on right now), I can't see there being any cause for concern.

But anyway, lets just wait and see what happens.

I can't see this going ahead - it would need the teams to agree and why would they? It would only create more work and travel for them, in a country where they might not be able to get insurance.

Perhaps the teams are worried that a race mid December is harsh on the staff when they'll be full-on 2012 production in early January.. Fear of burnout, if you will.

Who knows. I'm up for another race, but don't agree with the rescheduling of India as per Westyfield2's comments (I.e. Screwing those who've bought a ticket etc). Moot now, but you know what I mean.

Plus it throws build plans into turmoil. These bits are not just laying on a shelf somewhere.

But not high pressure high stress situations. It's a great motivator but there are limits to what can be done. You need to be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and the season is already too long imo considering the stupid number of away races. Why not have silverstone one week, donnington the next? Or germany then austria.

The differentiator here is they are building cars that whizz around the track at 200mph, not digging holes.

If you work in hellish conditions digging holes drink water, you'll get used to it.

Our boys work an average of 60 hours a week, everyone thinks it so glamourous. It dont feel that way when after a smash Friday for example, you get a call at 8pm to get back to the factory. Or Christmas day when your family are watching the Queens speech and you 8 hours into a 12 hour shift.

Its no walk in the park, trust me.

Yes, but a) That's the job you agreed to and b) I'll bet you're paid handsomely for it! (I don't know whether those working conditions apply to you or not)
