Bahrain Grand Prix 2010, Sakhir - Race 1/19

In a corner you do not need full power from the engine so it's not really a surprise he was still competitive there, he suffered coming out of a corner though.

Not coming out of the corner but accelerating to the next one it helps. You cannot dismiss the levels of downforce the red bull showed. Yet as you say he suffered coming out the corner but his sector times where still up there despite the lack of power.

That to me says the Red Bull is by far the car to beat. Alonso turned some impressive laps in clean air but the Red Bull has serious qually pace, so getting that clean air will be so much harder.

Mind you it could all be up in the air if bridgestone change the compounds.

Seb wasnt even pushing the car before the spark plug let go.

The general consensus was that most teams/drivers weren't pushing for fear of raping the tyres?

And the Ferraris had backed off due to overheating issues. That car apparently is a bit marginal in the cooling department, especially in the Bahrain heat when following another car semi-closely.

Indeed JRS... I agree RBR seem to have the strongest aero & fuel efficiency, but proclaiming the RB6 as out-and-out the fastest car on the grid is a bit hasty imho...

I don't think we'll see the "true pace" of all the cars until we hit Europe.

I think the McLaren is just going to get faster and faster all year. The others I'm sure will get faster but not by as much.

Reasons I think this:

1. The uber-wing, its performance advantage is just waiting to be unlocked.

2. McLaren did more "data" testing than anyone else. Some days they attached weird aero measuring devices to their car rather than concentrate on pure setup work.

3. McLaren last year were awesome at improving their car.

Exactly, I don't get why everyone is banging on about ferrari all of a sudden. They really need to see how much better Vettel was in the corners. Alonso was never going to pass Vettel in a million years. Especially with the heat problems they had and getting a run at Vettel on the straights just was never going to happen.

Alonso's lap times were good at the end but I don't think it's a speed Red Bull didn't have covered.

True pace of the cars until europe? What a pedalled out line that is. Meaningless, you need the pace from day one not europe, which is why so many championships are won by the fastest car at the first race.

For years and years MS and ferrari built a dominant car by building a car that was responsive and fast in the slow and mid speed corners rather than the low downforce stuff. Thats excatly what red bull have and why they have the fastest car.

Hamilton himself said they still have never had a good back end on a mclaren since he's been there and they have pace in the low downforce but yet again are lacking rear grip. That trick rear wing wont help that.

It's a shame F1 is all about the cars :(

I agree, such dog ugly cars as well :D

I blame the drivers and team owners as much as the fia and Bernie. They should have taken more care over the sport but they didn't care as long as they were still winning.

It offers very little entertainment, it's not exciting enough to draw in new fans and Tv audiences are dropping off all over the world. I have to use internet forums to discuss a sport I live in hope will eventually improve because all my real life friends think the event is a joke.

Even in the year we had our first british champion since hill, a young talented black champion for the first time British Tv audiences dropped and ITV couldn't ditch F1 fast enough (not a bad thing).

Sponsors are not interested even before the recession, they need to make it more exciting and the best the teams can come up with is, mandatory two stops.

I once got to meet Bernie and Hill when they visited our Hangar to look at an aircraft. I was dieing to give Bernie a few tips ;) on why F1 was so dull but I really didn't want to be the man responsible for upsetting him when he was looking over a 40 million pound jet :D

Funny how they didn't clamp down on it last year, with Brawn having such a clear advantage ;)

It's been the same for years but most Shumacher fans won't admit to it. The Ferrari MS had was faster than the whole field even when carrying more fuel and he went at least two seasons without a single retirement due to the supreme reliability. As soon as Renault caught up Alonso beat him to the title, twice!

Button dominated much the same first half of last season but then he was rubbish the second half when the others caught up.

Not saying MS isn't a very good driver, but his 7 titles wins seem to have given him legendary status when infact he had it easy for most of his titles.
