Baldurs Gate - Steam & New Version Thread

I don't think I'd pay more than £5 for it. Doesn't look like they've overhauled it nearly as much as I was expecting. Same UI, same spell effects (judging by vid in your link, Neil).

I agree, deffo not worth the $20 tag

I can't wait to get into this, the original ate literally months of my time when it was first released.

Trying to find that old nostalgic feeling with today's console port crap is pretty much non existent.
 
Still no news on the Android release date, other than 'before Christmas'.

I suppose it's only 3 weeks or so, but still, sad bunny :(

It's still the same game you wouldn't know the difference.
Same interface, same quests.
If I'm brutally honest I would like to have seen more gfx tweaking options for the pc version.
Playing on a 27" IPS screen with 1920 x 1080 res it does look really jaggy.
Not sure on mod support or .ini tweaks yet, will look into it.

Other than that, this is my idea of gaming Nirvana.
I played till around 6am this morning, I just couldn't leave it alone.
I can see this eating a lot of my free time.
I loved all the Infinity Engine games, I really hope they redo them all.

Will run on any low spec machine, I'm running it on my new Overclocked Trinity A10-5800k ITX Mini-Gamer box that I play in bed lol.(I don't get along with laptops and tablets)
Even this is massive overkill for the game.
Saying that, there is a known issue that the Devs can't fix.
Anyone running on an Intel IGP, it will play like crap due to Intel's rather dire Open GL support in their gfx drivers.

For PC users:-
If you love BG this is for you, if you don't, you may not appreciate the outdated style and gfx.

Tablet and Netbook fans, I can see this being hugely popular.

thanks for the input..

I have seen a trailor video which doesnt look any different from the original BG.. I loved both of the originals and the add ons (one of the best games iv played), I think this will defo be a ipad purchase for me!
 
I completed the original BG six times. I played it exclusively for years. It was a fantastic game but I'm not sure now how I managed that!

It's Ok, I certainly wouldn't say fantastic.

I think Neverwinter Nights 2 was better.

(Ignore the mask of the betrayer garbage)

Baldurs Gate 2 on the other hand....

I would love to see a modern version of that.
