1: PC 4000, 1024mb double sided, fails at 680.6mb
2: PC 4000, 1024mb double sided, fails at 1018mb
A: PC 3200, 512mb single sided, fails at 293.5mb
B: PC3200, 512mb single sided, passes SO far..... but has a lot of POST problems (1 in 3 posts need CMOS reset)

Vibein, what was the batch codes's? like the CL1115 codes on mine?

aparently its the 5 batch/fab thats rubbish

Same here only bought them last Thursday, fails memtest test 5 @ 250Mhz standard timings 2.8v @ 841.6Mb and 857.6Mb. Sending them back to crucial tomorrow morning, looks like they are marked up wrong aswell as when i told them the part number they asked if i was sure they said z503 at the end and not z505  hopefully will get some that work this time :)

I received another BSOD on my 2GB Dual Channel kit, ive tried now configure by SPD and the settings recommended by Crucial (3-4-4-8 2.8v) but they just keep giving me errors on my DFI LanParty Ultra-D. By SPD I get 3millions errors in 23min on memtest86 which promptly freezes.

Was any of your dead Ballistix being actively cooled?

yes and no... i do have a fan blowing in that direction, and have so ever since getting the two 1gig chips... didnt help.

the 512mb chips run uncooled for a while, and was hotter than my cpu at points. could really do with some propper heatsinks on these things

Right just got off the phone to crucial and told them about how I've RMA'd once, and the signs of another problem is starting to creep in. Plus added that it's becoming a massive problem here and in the USA.

Ended up saying if I send them back they will give me a full refund.

Time for some OCZ !

you are not alone, i had 4 512mb sticks die this year, replaced them with 2x1gb sticks and so far they are going strong and fantastic ram, but unfortunately prone to being needed to br rma'd, at least there is a lifetime warranty.

Was reading on the twinmos site the definition of lifetime warranty and it means the lifetime of the product, once they stop making it - no longer guarenteed, dont know if this applies to other manufacturers too.

Finally about to get my memory back from crucial and as i mentioned above they are sending me z505 sticks back not z503, just hope these work ok

My Ballistix are dead too. Unfortunatly I bought them on the MM so while they have a lifetime warranty, if they ask me for proof of purchase I'm stuffed.

Has anyone that returned them as faulty have any recollection if they did ask for proof of purchase?

If they do fail again thouh, it'll be me going Ballistix at them.

Both DIMMS have failed, and it took me ages before I realised it was a memory problem, not a hard disk, RAID0, Windows, motherboard etc problem.

I've got ancient CL2.5 or CL3 Twinmos in at the moment.

The Ballistix are PC4000 and are actively cooled by the OTES thing from my old Fatal1ty non-SLI board (which works fine on the Fatal1ty SLI board).

They still run extremely hot, but since they're meant to be able to run at stock without active cooling, and I'm running them in a case that's room temperature (everything is watercooled, there's very good airflow) at stock with active cooling, I think it's not my fault!

I bought mine from overclockers but gave up trying to get through on the phone. Rang crucial up they asked for my order number, i told them i bought them from overclockers but couldnt get through on the phone to them, issued me with an RMA number 15 mins later.

I phoned em an hour and go and they were fine, dropping them off tomorrow and they'll ship replacements for friday.

Very pleasant to deal with.

I think I'm still covered under my statutory rights or something anyway. Maybe! But I didn't mention it wasn't me that bought them.

Still thinking about buying 2GB of Mushkin PC4000 Redline, since I can get it at US prices though... :)

You are so right with that statement.
Their free phone number and helpful informative staff is superb assurance for anyone dealing with them. Their guarantees, along with the money back offer within thrity days, makes buying from them painfree - in my experience.

It was just a pity for me that the Balistix memory that they sent did not work with my motherboard.

yes... crucial recommended that if i was using them over 2.7volts that id have to active cool them...

my 2gig of ram was actively cooled every day it was in, it still died after 1.5months of useage

If these run hot at stock has anyone thought of cooling them? :p

Like I said, mine were actively cooled. And there wasn't any heat from surrounding components. And even with active cooling they were too hot to touch.
