Seems quite a slow process if he's being pushed out,

Microsoft do need abit of a change in approach IMO. Windows 8, windows surface and the Xbox one launch haven't really gone well

Look at the problems they've had with their products since Balmer has been at the helm. Windows 8 being badly received, poor Office Sales, Windows for phones being orphaned and then replaced with another version that included a billion dollars to Nokia, missing out on tablets with Surface having poor sales, the XB1 launch debacle, Zune failure, etc.

Balmer is a shouty guy that presided over many failures at MS, and allowed all the teams to turn into these competitive empires that fought against each other instead of working together.

To be honest, it's not really surprising given that Windows 8 and Xbox One had very rocky starts. It will be interesting to see who replaces him though.

Because there isn't much that Microsoft does that excites people these days. For a while it's all been about smartphones and tablets and MS hasn't made significant ground in these areas.

Windows Phone is gaining market share slowly though so there may be hope for MS yet.

And they havant really started in those areas, he made the big change to these areas that MS needed to make, give them 5 years and we can judge then.
 
It's not being pushed, 12months to I I a replacment.

He has done MS a hell of a loot of good, any transition period is hard. Look at any other company. The direction they are going is the correct direction. People will embrace win8, look at steam figures for a start.

There's plenty of room for imprvment however
Public press conferences are a shamble
Hardware choices are perthetic.
Updates are still to slow


The worse thing they could do but thankfully they aren't, is for them to go back on the changes they have made. They need to continue and change the problem areas.
