But you can't ignore what Ribery has helped his team do last season. Surely you can't give the award to someone that won nothing.

Well the award is for a player, not a team. Bayern had other players doing an awful lot as well as Ribery, they're better as a unit.

I can't see why Ronaldo shouldn't win it. The best by far.

This shouldnt be about what team's won (or lost) its about how phenomenal the individual is.

Ribery isnt even close to the other two, and for once Messi wasnt close to Ronaldo.

(Admittedly on a per game basis Messi was better with assists, but Ron averages +~.2 goals per game which imo gives him the nod)

Ribery for me. He's not the main attacking threat for his club like Messi and Ronaldo are for theirs but he contributed massively to their success.

If we're going to base it solely on goals then we'd never see a keeper, defender or midfielder win it again.

He's had a great season but has it been as good as Ronaldo's?

Whilst RM haven't won anything he's been going about his business banging them in left right and centre, I also think the WC play offs will play a big part in the decision, rightly or wrongly.

It would be an injustice if Ribery didn't get it with his 2013 credentials. No one will ever remember Ronaldo's 2013 but everyone will remember what Ribery achieved.

Trophies are won by teams, individuals are different. Ribery wasn't the stand out player in the Bayern team, he had great games and games he was better than everyone else, sure. but he had plenty of games where Dante, Muller, Robben, Lahm outshone him. Ronaldo outshone everyone in almost every single game all season.

Bayern are by quite a way the strongest squad and strongest team. It would be rewarding Ribery for having Dante as a team mate instead of Pique or Coentrao.

League last year Ronaldo 34 goals 10 assists, Ribbery 10 goals 14 assists(Ronaldo had 6 more starts in the league but doesn't account for the difference). Ronaldo had a good assists rate and fantastic scoring rate.

In the UCL Ribery had 1 goal and 2 assists in 12 games, Ronaldo in scored 12 in 12 UCL games, 1 assist.

This season Ronaldo has simply taken than form further, while Ribery only has 12 goals and 7 assists for his team in around 23 games. Ronaldo has 32 goals and 8 assists in 35 27 games.

Ronaldo's 2013 form has been utterly unmatched by anyone. For club and country he's on 42 goals already this season... that is simply ridiculous.

If Ronaldo was in that Bayern team, he'd have won everything and scored and assisted more doing it, just a shame Ronaldo ended up at a stupid team that focuses on all the wrong things.

I don't know if Ronaldo will ever win a UCL at Real, though like the Sweden/Portugal game he might drag the team kicking and screaming to a the Champs league. Real just don't have the squad or sense to invest their money wisely enough to be as good as barca/Bayern long term.

The amount they've spent, they should have a team comparable to Bayern.
