I'm sure using command prompt to disable/enable WGA and "legally" downloading Windows 7 are walking very close to the line of legality
Microsoft provides a way to reset the grace period up to three times using rearm functionality available through the slmgr.vbs command-line interface. This effectively extends the grace period of these products to 120 days. For details see Slmgr.vbs Options in the Volume Activation Technical Reference Guide.
It's 100% legal ive seen it documented on the microsoft websites, it's how i was made aware of it a few years ago.
You're not disabling it, you're just adding extra time. You can only do it 3 times.
EDIT
That's from Microsoft Technet.
people still using xP? lmao
because windows 7 is the OS of today not of 10 years ago - times have moved on and people being dumhat elitist by sticking to XP is just sad more than anything and if you dont have a pc thats capable of win 7 then you might as well not bother with anything pc related at all. christ even crappy £100 netbooks can run the thing
Dear Santa,
Please could you give me a copy of Windows 7 - 64bit would be great, and also give me some more ram too.
Hmm... how to do it on the sly without wife finding out I am spending the dosh on 'computer stuff'?![]()
Who could blame anyone for sticking with XP after experiencing the "joys" of Vista ? OK, Win 7 has been out for a while, but an XP owner could use the excuse "if Win 7 is anything like Vista, I'll stick with XP".
Yes, I do hate Vista.
There is no "free months trial" or any legal form of acquiring the Win 7 image without owning a license beforehand.
note: if your installing windows 7 for the first time firstly check your drivers for any printers/scanners and other stuff you may have, also win 7 dosn't have outlook express (or ANY email program pre-installed so bear this in mind) and if you do a dual-boot install I recommend installing XP first then 7 later (on a different drive) then use EasyBCD on the win 7 install to set up XP how you want it i.e. order/timer/rename
Yes there is, you can even go upto 120 days as kierenharrold kindly pointed out.
Install any win7 version and dont put a key in, and windows installs anyway... the month period (28days is it?) is how long will pass untill windows starts to tell you to buy a key/retail copy.
Simple, legal, try before you buy.
Just google Win 7 Enterprise Trial - you need to be an 'IT Professional' in order to be given the option to download it.
It's a 90 day trial, but can be extended to 120.
Doubt you could get a full, no time limit version for free... legally!
still better than vista to be fair
Just use thunderbird if you can't afford MS Office.
I got my W7 key on fleabay for £24 so don't worry about forking out 90 odd quid on a full retail copy with discs, just download it![]()
I can afford MS Office and still use Thunderbird.
What kind of license does the key have?
Just a normal retail key (full licence) that you get when you buy it for £100+ from the purple shirt store!
