Bambu Lab P1P

Just got the shipping email for my P1P, yay!

Not bothered about the P1S, as I really only print PLA and PETG. And there's going to be a P1P > P1S upgrade kit anyway.

There's a guy on twitter showing off his P1P compatible touch-screen. That's something I suspect I'd pay for:
Let us know how you get on with your P1P, I ordered the upgrade kit yesterday so it will arrive just before the P1P I ordered.

Well, I can't say I'm at all happy with BambuLabs, no option to cancel or change an order after it has been placed (cancellation window is open for two whole hours after order placement), a complete lack of any sort of communication methodology that gives any feedback that they have even received your comms, so I sent in a cancellation request via paypal as well, oddly enough they've now given me a shipping number... my gut tells me that had I not sent that dispute in I'd have still been waiting.

So, the P1P arrived yesterday. I've been playing with it and it's a bit of a mixed bag.

The Bambu app just doesn't work for me at all. Refuses to pair with the printer, throwing a 'not found' error. Tried multiple Android devices, no joy. So I'm limited to printing from SD card right now.

First prints have been excellent; the combination of speed and quality is in a completely different league than any of my other printers. It's almost spooky to see a printer managing a totally perfect first layer right out of the box. Very, very happy with the print quality.

A couple of times the P1P has thrown an apparently spurious 'HMS 0300 1200' error and refused to print. That code is not listed in Bambu's wiki, so no idea what's going on there. Power cycling clears the error.

At the moment I'm delighted with the P1P's prints, but rather frustrated that the experience hasn't been as smooth as I expected.

Yes, of course. The error still happened again - but after trying four phones the Bambu app finally worked, the printer did a firmware update and the error hasn't occurred since. So I don't think there was ever anything wrong with the hardware, just a firmware glitch.

My P1P arrived yesterday afternoon, lucky it worked with my smartphone ok, I did the firmwear update printed a near perfect benchy with the included 'green' pla, I printed off one of the small items I often print to Sell, that normally takes just over 2 hours on my Ender 3 S1 Pro, in 29 minutes with the P1P!!

Happy days.

Mine is on it's way back to Bambu, I had wanted to change my order for a P1S but after the absolutely atrocious customer support I'm not sure I want anything to do with the company and they certainly will not be getting any money from me in the immediate future. Shockingly bad form from them.

That's a shame. I wonder if Bambu's support is overwhelmed, they've gone from nothing to a huge presence in such a short time and hiring and training support people is not quick if you do it correctly.

Maybe, but it doesn't excuse their behaviour, still I have received notification that a full refund is pending via paypal so that at least restores some good will towards them.
