Bank error in your favour, collect £... ?

I left a job and they accidentally paid me an extra month. I got a letter asking for it back, but they never followed up.

It turned out the accounts guy was robbing them blind(former colleague told me), and also not doing his job properly.

I think my overpayment got lost in the xxxx storm.

Same, i left a job and got full holiday pay, 1 extra month salary and they didn't follow up on the "Buy a PC through your workplace" scheme they had going. I got myself a q9550 CPU, 4870 GPU and other good parts....never had to pay out of my own pocket for it lol. The scheme was a salary sacrifice thing but they never bothered starting to take it off me before tax, so i never told them.

They also had a Cycle to Work scheme too and I got 2 bikes from them at about 1,000 that they never asked for either.

Not bank in error but I ordered some Trust Tytan GXT 629 speakers for £80 from game online. I received a very large box 2 days later and upon opening, I saw 2 sets of speakers. Likely the warehouse employee sent this out having thought the box only contained one speaker system inside. Being a good person i am i contacted game and told them the issue provided my proof of purchase including a photo and returned one set. 7 days later I got a refund for £80. Contacted them again explaining the refund must be in error and they said, "the refund was given for my honesty in returning a set instead of keeping them both" Purchased a vertical gpu bracket and some zmt tubing with the refund :)

They were more out of pocket giving you the refund than leaving you with the second speakers at cost :P

Exactly my reason for contacting them in regards to what I thought was an error. Would have been happy with both speakers personally but I'm too good for my own liking. I have to make sure things don't back fire on me and usually an error from another company, favours me.

Only once did a company make a mistake and in fact reported me for theft. Got refunded for an order of a new gaming chair as they were suddenly out of stock after my purchase and delivery date approved. 2 days later I received my order (on the date it would have arrived if it was in stock remember) that got cancelled and refunded. Contacted them to return the item and they reported me for theft as I managed to receive an item they apparently never sent. How was this my fault  Regardless this was theft so they kept saying. My local police came round in regards to the theft a couple hours later and I honestly started worrying. My anxiety couldn't handle the situation (hence my need to make sure things don't backfire on me). The police in fact laughed at their mistake after I provided proof of my purchase and delivery date. The next day the company contacted me and told me to keep the item as a good will gesture. Never dealt with them to this day.

Tops Computers. A local company in my town. Closed up shop 12-13 years ago. They got into a lot of trouble near the end for ripping customers off with fake issues. Another company shortly after for the same reason. Thankfully the 3 businesses we have left for pc repairs/sales are going strong albeit, very over priced.

As a student, I did some temp work during the summer. One assignment was to go to a warehouse to stick bits of cardboard onto another piece of cardboard to make a pouch to insert a sample of some washing liquid and a money off coupon. It was tedious and fiddly as pouch had to be fitted exact. When the supervisor told us we could go on our breaks. I didn't return. Obviously they probably did other tedious tasks. Checked my bank statement and the agency paid me for 3 days and not for 2 hours! BOOM!

Years ago I bought some HiFi and paid by cheque - Years later I had a letter from my banks asking if I did buy the HiFi as the cheque had just been handed to them. Couldn't even remember what i bought so didn't answer bank.

Must have been good stuff in those days as it was about £130.

not a bank error but I was at B&Q buying a burgurar alarm of all things as well as a bunch of other stuff.

the lass was having trouble with the scanner . I thought the total bill was cheap but when I got home the alarm had never scanned. karma got me however I should have gone back as the damn thing never worked properly anyway.

Like others I've had a couple of duplicate items received, but no major money bonuses.
Last time I was in a pub (December) I bought a round of 3 drinks which came to less than £10 total, it was a fairly cheap pub but I'm pretty sure it should have been more than that.
Had items missing off restaurant bills before, whether I make them aware of this depends on the quality of the food/service (if we've had a good time, I don't begrudge paying for it and don't want the server to get in trouble over it). One time we got free chasers/coffees for bringing it to their attention.

On the flipside I did once in a zombie state go to a cashpoint to request £40, but never actually took the money just walked off when it returned my card, so free £40 to whomever was behind me.

Ah, the old fake burgular alarm scam. Let 'em take a dodgy one for free to give them a false sense of security, them rob them. They can't claim any damages as there's no record of you having sold it to them.
