Bank error

Wow. I really have no idea where your hostility comes from.
Although your silly signature should have rang alarm bells :/

I'd probably spend it. Then if they caught on I'd just say I assumed it was the payment my dad was making as he told me he was making one soon.
Then what are they going to do?

Banks make too much profit anyway.

Hold on a minute here.......

i agree if this dude keeps the money its unlawful and he will get prosecuted if he makes use of this money.

but

shoe on the other foot

Companies do this sort of thing all the time mistake or not. They keep the sodding money and make use of it. (until they are discovered anyway and claim an administrative error)

whats the Law's attitude towards companies that do similar? ie take more money than they should or charge more than they should and end up keeping and gaining interest on the money for up to a year for example.

i would keep it until they ask for it back.. which they prob will. but they might not!
its always a chance...
saying that when i was at school i knew a boy who was getting money paid into his account randomly for 2 YEARS!!!! he just kept spending and spending... they finally caught up with him and made him pay it ALL back in installments! he had a great few years :)

I would spend the money, but acknowledge that it was a mistake when they notice (normally when they add everything up at the end of the month and it doesn't balance).
Say you can't repay it because it has been spent, but that you'd like to. Suggest an interest free loan as a repayment plan because it was their mistake not yours, and you instantly have £1500 in credit.

A similar thing happened to my inlaws, that's the basis of my suggestion.

On what basis could they prosecute? It wasn't his mistake.

I work for abbey and they will know the cashiers till is down, it is only a matter of time before they automaically withdraw the money without warning....bummer this will probably take him overdrawn an incur charges, theres no leway with repayments either.

I concur, it was only a mere observation....

My hobbies include: Golf, programming, socialising, hiking, surfing and mountain biking. So what if I was up at 3.47am? It happens, university each day means I generally have to be in bed for about 1am at the latest, it's the weekend, so I stay up later. Your comment was obviously a slightly sexist remark, which I found quite funny. Nothing to be ashamed off.

I'm off to have a good night, doubt you are doing the same.
