I'll take him!
It just means Newcastles unlikely push for a UEFA cup spot is at an end , we cant catch Blackburn now.
Not too disapointed , after the season we have had 15th would have done me.
Quite what this has to do with Owen I dont know , its a poor show if he leaves citing no european football as an excuse when hes only played 10 games for us.

Well done Blackburn though , with their style of play and lack of European experience I can see them knocked out early.
See what happens when you sign Craig Bellamy and sack Souness?
The man should be stoned to death.

Rumour has it that he has a £12m buy out clause in his contract if Newcastle don't qualify for europe. Remember he left Liverpool because he wanted to challenge for medals (when liverpool were in the cl, which we all know they went on to win), so i wouldn't be suprised if he left for not being in europe at all.

Yes but he had no choice, Liverpool weren't particuarly interested and wouldn't have matched Newcastles offer and he couldn't risk sitting on the bench at Real with the WC coming up.

Suppose your right , who would sign him?
As you say nobody wanted him and Liverpool werent going to pay that much.

The biggest reason why Liverpool weren't interested was due to the price; how could they justify paying £17m for a player they sold for £8 (+ Nunez who was sold for £2m + future incentives depending on Real's success, so they got £0m from that, so a total of £10m). Where as £12m (if thats correct) may be more appealing not just to Liverpool but possibly to Man U (if RVN leaves) to Chelsea (who in reality are only lacking a top class goal scorer) and possibly Arsenal (if Henry goes). It will be interesting to see firstly if he goes (which i think he will, as he's not the most caring person as he may seem on TV) and to who may be interested.

Add Spurs to that list too if they get CL football. They'll be on the lookout for a striker seeing as at least either/both of Defoe and Mido probably won't be around next season.
