Any reason? HSBC, for me, have been perfect. I've never had one single problem and they have 24hr UK call centres and I've called up at 3am once and got everything sorted quickly and easily.

If I ever want something changing, they don't kick up a fuss.

same here, was with halifax, but opened an account with hsbc are a great bank

Firstly. Everytime I ring up im on hold for goodness knows how long. Evntually getting through I dont get any useful information. Only "Go into your local branch" and I cant understand what there saying half the time as there call centers must be in some foreign country. Last time I rang up about internet banking, she asked me all the questions / secruity questions etc and dragged it out for about 15 minutes, going "Yes, thats fine" etc thinking I've got them all right (Which Im pretty sure I did) and at the end she says "Sorry Mr XXXX XXXXX" but the information u provided is not blah blah blah", so after all that time I was pretty ***** and to make it even worse SHE CANCELED MY CARD THAT STUPID ANNOYING WOMAN!!! "GO INTO YOUR LOCAL BRANCH", hung up before I lost it with her.

So now I had a dead card, great, I rung up to get help and its turnt around to canceling my card!

You must have either been unlucky or just had a foreign employee working in a UK cc. Everytime I have called HSBC I have spoken to Northerners and Scottish people. Ahhhh, I love a soft Scottish accent.
 
Prolly the same place as my banks... same country that supplies us with corner shops. At least the guys in the corner shops can talk to me... the people on the other end of the phone get confused if i ask a question that isnt on their Q&A sheet in front of them :p

I love the way we offer help to each other on this forum, it's one of those things that make it great here! Kind of like the masons :D

Back O/T never had any probs with HSBC actually, if anything their customer service is one of the best
 
Tbh i've only ever heard good things about hsbc too, just a shame their nearest branch is glasgow city centre. I prefer being able to walk into my local tsb branch down the road :)
 
My HSBC sort code is 40-45-25, pretty similar.

Is info on that going to be any use? I don't know which bit of the sort code the branch is determined by?

Sorry for being a n00b, it's probably useless but worth a try!
