BANNED - Man Size Tissues...

Do men eject more snot than women? Maybe man-sized tissues were not intended for blowing your nose, but for other unmentionable activities. In which case the name would make sense.

On a side note - I came across a picture on Reddit about a mouse mat. I can't think about it, it makes me sick.

It's because when they came out in the 50s they were marketed to replace men's handkerchiefs.

So they're a simmilar size

Lynx seems like the standard deodorant for all teenagers since the 90s when they started running these campaigns.

In my experience though no one buys lynx its always family.members/parents buying it.

Maybe mum's and dads dont want some unexpected teen pregnancy so buy thier sons lynx as it works better than condoms :p

For a gender that (usually) shaves such a higher percentage of their body and over such a wider variety of skin surfaces, you'd think they'd have learned a thing or two about how to actually do it.....!!!

Watching a woman shave is horrifying, they attack thier limbs like they're trying to peel them!

Agree I have tonnes of those Xmas sets.

Maybe its a case of these teens receiving surplus of the standard Lynx deodorant/showergel pack as gifts at Christmas from the family members you only see once a year and are not even sure how they are related.

Grandparents desperate foe grandkids easily fooled by marketing ?

Did kleenex make the change to get the jump on having to change it? Or did they change it due to a complaint?

Doesn't bother me but can clearly see why they would.

In way we live today vocal social network people gain following, and a bandwagon occurs, reputaton i damaged.
It happens so quickly and can impact so much a minority cause a majority change.
People who aren't bothered obviously wont pushing back, especially if it causes a backlash.
Marketing is more Important than ever!

So rightly or wrongly things progress as they are. As gender neutrality is the current hot topic you'll see more of this.

As for 'mothercare' having to change.. I guess that would take a push from men to get 'masculinism' to fly.
I dont think there's the push on this side for that (yet). So the above wont change. Men can hardly claim to be 'oppressed' outside of divorce settlements

Its just change, Im not really bothered, but the world Is too 'male biased' along with a lot of other things.

"Man size" was always a ridiculous description anyway. Why do men need bigger tissues than women or children? Children probably need bigger tissues than adults.

I'd suggest "Proboscis Monkey size". :)

Kleenex NPC speaks.. "We must not have man size... man size is sexist"

I think the real reason is Kleenex is going downhill. It's difficult to get a good firm tissue these days. They rip so easily.

I think the other side is happening in different ways. Although still completely unfair and ******, there is a push for fairer paternity rights. We have seen significant improvements on the (essentially non existent by comparison) custody rights that fathers have after separation, as well as companies giving ground to paternity leave.

From some Fathers for justice article in 2013
Experts, however, argue that access rights for separated fathers have improved hugely in the last decade, with one major change being the introduction of new shared parenting laws introduced last November.

The new legislation states that judges must ensure fathers are given the legal right to spend time to develop a meaningful relationship with their sons or daughters – provided a child’s wellbeing is not jeopardised by such a relationship.

Under the legislation, which came into force this year, judges will determine the appropriate time and arrangements, if this cannot be agreed during mediation sessions between estranged parents.

You also have a push to see men who are more involved with their children as more masculine. Peirs Morgan has received massive backlash for calling Daniel Craig EmasculatedBond in a tweet recently due to him using a baby carrier

A lot of people on here seem to count this gender equality push as empowering women but really it is slowly happening on both sides in their own way and at different rates.

The difference between male and female advertisement in toiletries can be hilarious. The female overpriced pink razors that focus on some super smooth conditioning gel strip and ergonomic shape vs the OTT 6+1 blades with vibration technology and a long name like 'fusion power mach3' advertised by the top sports stars from several different sports.

The OTT lynx adverts were good too, with stampedes of bikini wearing women coming from each direction.

The thing is that these adverts had their place and worked at the time. Sales of Yorkies shot up with the controversial adverts. Lynx seems like the standard deodorant for all teenagers since the 90s when they started running these campaigns.

Marketing is a funny old game. Brand something as "big", "tough", "powerful" etc and men feel less manly if they buy a neutrally branded alternative.

They may as well say "buy this one or you'll feel like a wuss (you wuss)." :)

The question shouldn't be "Why do you care they are changing the name" the question should be "Who had enough time in their sad little life to worry about something so insignificant as this and complain about it to get it changed"...

everybody is talking about kleenex now - good PR for them, thats all this is. i doubt having man-size tissues is much of a sales draw these days so they might as well change it and get in the news.

But the reason it’s been rebranded is because people complained it’s sexist.

I need to go into my safe space as I’ve just tripped over a man hole in the street, I’m going to send a letter to the council demanding they be known as metal hole covers from now on, it’s too oppressive to call them man hole covers

Was this you? I chuckled at this comment on the article.

I notice there is no objection raised to manhole covers.

What could we rename them?

Let me think.

Because they were marketed in the 50s as a replacement to mens fabric handkerchiefs.

They've pretty much always ran adverts saying they're for everyone.

I thought the world "penis" would be banned by now and replaced with "not a vagina".
Eventually both sexes will be replaced by enhanced hermaphrodites via genetic engineering, able to reproduce asexually.

Oooooookay :D
