anything is cheap to run until it breaks

got a mondeo on my drive in need of engine that costs £500-£800

and everyone on here says mondeos are cheap to run?
 
Would this be the suspisciously cheap mondeo you bought at auction?

Oddly, mine doesnt need a new engine.

The point is an engine as an entity isn't a consumable part, a turbo on a 1.8t once it gets to a set age (regardless of how its looked
after) is.

Like i said in the other thread when you went to look at this thing, the 1.8T is an expensive beast to keep running if you get a bad un.
 
The skoda didnt use loads of oil, about 1 litre every 2000 miles

and smoked like hell when it was cold but it drove perfect, it could have been the turbo or valve stem oil seams or piston rings

it was £1100 with 12 months mot and 9 months tax, full service history, only 100k, mint condition all around

owner had it for 5 years, he must have noticed it burning lots of oil and got rid quick

guess what goes around comes around, but ultimatly i didnt like the skoda it was bright red and attracted too much of the wrong attention
 
i could have got a 2nd hand turbo for a couple of hundred quid yes but i wasnt sure it was the turbo making all the smoke
 
yeh but the point is theyre cheap turbos out there but if i was keeping the car i would rather buy a brand new one.

i didnt intend on keeping the car long so didnt want to sink cash into it
