Barbs VS. Compression

Cheers Elric! Thanks for your advice. What size tubing would you have to get, would it have to be same size for both the tubing and compression clip? Or could the compression clip be bigger?

The compression kit I used was that Innovatek stuff, so it was 10mm tubing with 8mm inner bore. I know you can get larger bore compression fittings, think it's Koolance that use the larger stuff.

It would be nice to see some more larger compression fitting available for the 7/16 & 1/2 types though. If you want to use compression fitting, use the correct tubing size for the fittings, smaller tubing is not woth using as it'll be a sod to get on and off, and defeats the purpose of the comresiion fitting anyway, the compression fitting locks the whoe thing together. :)

I've used both compression fittings and 1/2 barbs, and neither have leaked.

I just prefer the look of 1/2 tubes to be honest, but I understand that performance wise there is very little in it.

If 1/2 compression fittings were easily available, and cost effective, then I'd probably go with them because they look nice.

But, as neither of the above seem true, it's 1/2 tubes and jubilee clips for me. :)

I use 11/8 compression fittings and have no real issues with them.

But they can be quite restrictive and I would actually prefer to use the 10/8 push fittings, but my 11/8mm Tygon is 1mm too big, and a little too soft for them.

The best looking IMO is 1/2" barbs, 7/16" tubing and pi-thon fittings :) Pay through the nose tho :(

Jubilee clips > compression simply due to the small bore of all compression fittings i've seen.

I have had 7/16th" tubing come off 1/2" barbs, but it was a tight bend and with no clamps/zip ties. Anyone who has problems with zip ties etc is doing something seriously wrong.

1/2" barbs and 3/8" Tygon. ;)

Just get some Hi-Flow barbs and put some PTFE tape around the thread, easy as pie and secure.

as said earlier, 1/2" is the most popular choice due to it looking the ebst, size isnt really a performance, issue, however 3/8" will fit around 1/2" barbs but has a tighter fitting, some people prefer it.
