Barcelona fail to pay wages for June

I just don't get it. These players get paid stupid wages that the clubs cannot afford ( seen as most of them are in debt). Why pay them so much

Stupid world is stupid.

I didn't think they were in any kind of financial trouble

Barcelona's finances have always been a complete mystery; some say they are minted with virtually no debt, others say they have an absolute fortune. It's very confusing.

You will find a huge number of businesses are run whilst in 'debt' this isn't to be confused with your everyday debt.

This debt is usually created on purpose via various loans and bonds to allow the company/business to operate beyond their means and allows to generate further income. The income they generate is usually more than enough to cover their loans and their interest as well as some on top to pay the shareholders.

Blimey, sounds like something Portsmouth would do. Surely something is seriously wrong at Barcelona if they can't pay their way.

Most of Europe's top elite teams are in quite a bit of debt. Real Madrid had to sell off assets a few years back, which they now "rent" from the local Spanish government.

A lot of Italian teams have a vast debt too so maybe Blatter and Prattini should go easy on English clubs.

Neither did i but then thinking on it...they have some super players in their squad and must be paying them a shedload of money to keep them...unlike Real who have the royal family of Spain to bail them out.

Interesting...at least it will be a lot more difficult for Barca to get Fabregas now...seeing as they have only offered £30mill for a player who is worth much more than that.

So why can't they pay their players wages....

They can't pay the wages because they haven't been paid their massive TV moneys from last season. They really rely on the TV money to exist as a super club who can spend 50m every summer. I think they're meeting with the company after the WC to sort it out, but still, pretty bad sign, and very worrying for all Spanish clubs that the company is seemingly out of money

Meh, Real and Barca are run like jokes, campaigns run by Labour supporters obviously, promise the world with no money to pay for it, get in power, buy said players for ridiculous money, get into debt, expect some happy person to buy up the debt or just wipe it out.

Now, I actually don't mind Chelsea, or City, they have owners who are just unbelievably rich, they can do what they want with their money. Don't forget that a huge amount of tax is paid by two complete foreigners on all money Chelsea/City bring in and hmm, I don't actually know, does tax get paid somewhere on players, hmm. Certainly on the huge wages they are paying for out of pocket. In terms of business, they are helping the country, in terms of fairness, its their money, I'm happy for them to do what they want.

But Real/Barca spend money they don't have, and then their debt just mysteriously/magically dissappears, but that standard Plymouth ARgyl should be able to afford to buy Villa, Fabregas, Torres and Mascherano this season, because they can just magically come up with the money and someone will just write off the debt. Its just complete BS to be honest, and they've been the same way for well, decades now.

Fifa shouldn't be going after City/Chelsea, but the clubs that don't actually have money and still buy players, it really is ridiculous.

ALso I haven't seen anything that suggests TV money is late, the new president seems to be suggesting they've just spent more than they can afford, and have a plan to pay it back, which doesn't really sound like "we're waiting for a huge check to pay off this loan", a plan sounds more complex than that.

They also seem to be suggesting of the 150million loan, 50million is for new players and the income from Yaya and the defender will go into the pot, so they have 89million to spend, despite taking a 150million loan because they'll need it to pay wages for several months.

Its a complete joke the situation they are in, they can't afford to pay wages and are taking loans to buy more players with more wages to play.
