Barcelona fail to pay wages for June

Now, I actually don't mind Chelsea, or City, they have owners who are just unbelievably rich, they can do what they want with their money. Don't forget that a huge amount of tax is paid by two complete foreigners on all money Chelsea/City bring in and hmm, I don't actually know, does tax get paid somewhere on players, hmm. Certainly on the huge wages they are paying for out of pocket. In terms of business, they are helping the country, in terms of fairness, its their money, I'm happy for them to do what they want.

Clubs should be paying Capital gains on any profits on player sales but most players (especially the top earners) do not pay as much tax as you might think. All have complex setups which results in a lot of their money paid into overseas corporations and they avoid paying any UK taxes on that portion of their income:

All of this was caused by the company who buy Barca's TV rights - Mediaproduccion - filing for bankruptcy protection. And as Jakeke rightly said, they haven't paid Barca the money they owe them yet, as the deal they negotiated didn't include Bank guarantees. Real Madrid's deal did though lol, so I bet they're loving this...

However, the fact Barca can just go out and get a loan for 120 Million shows you that banks are not worried about their ability to generate income and pay it back, and they are far from bankruptcy.

No idea what this means in terms of their summer transfer activity mind, perhaps it does make it more likely Fabregas will stay for another season. And it means Torres will go to Chelsea instead?! :p

Pretty shocked about this. Dont Real and Bacelona get around 3/4 of all revenue in La Liga.

Anyway looks like Cesc Fabregas is staying on

Apparently Barcelona are that well off they pay Unicef to wear the logo on the football shirt!

Guess we might see some more charity adverts.

Most of the spanish league teams are struggling to pay wages. Through out the season, there was a few occasions where bbc mentioned "so and so" club had not paid the players on time.

As little as i know about Barcelona's money situation i was left in absolute disbelief that a club like that needs to do a portsmouth to pay wages. I guess they could sell Messi to city and pay off the loan in one go

Rather not win anything but have a bit of money?

You want to win things as a footballer.

I'm sure Barca aren't in as much trouble as missing a weeks wages would suggest.

I think its all down to tv money. Since they dodn't have a common tv deal like in the EPL, i think the company that had bought their tv rights are in dire straights.

There's also quite a lot of pressure on the Spanish league to scrap the induvidual deals which would hit Barca and Real very hard as they'd be getting about a fifth of the money they depend on to run as a big club.

There is and hope it does as it is a boring league in terms of who wins. Then again madrid and barca have nothing to worry about. A few years back madrid were in debt and madrid city council were kind enough to buy some land from madrid, at a quite higher value than it was worth. Those teams are national treasures and will always have rich fans who don't mind pumping cash into them.
