Barcelona fail to pay wages for June

Apparently Barcelona are that well off they pay Unicef to wear the logo on the football shirt!

Guess we might see some more charity adverts.

I thought Unicef paid an extortionate amount to have the sponsorship, but knew it would bring in more than the cost to sponsor.

edit: quick google shows that barca have given the sponsorship for free. i suppose that never having had a sponsor before they wont miss the income!

They aren't the only team to have Unicef as their shirt sponsor. Although I read somewhere that they donate over a million Euro's a year to Unicef for the privilege.

Also they have set aside 50mill euros for any new players....hmmmm could very well say to Arsenal now heres 50mill we want Fabregas now ta very muchly.

Wenger would say **** off he's under contract and not for sale, ta very muchly.

Like hell wenger would. He could buy 2 more attacking midfielders with that money ;)

It's only just over 10 more than what they're offering now if you convert it into pounds. And that would be in the unlikely scenario that they used the entire transfer fund on one player which I doubt. Then there's the small matter of how they are going to pay his wages. Apparently Barcelona want a yes or no answer today on the whole affair.

Two short central attacking midfielders, I can believe that, the question is where will he play this next batch of central attacking midfielders, fullback?

If Barca offered 50mil, theres not a chance in hell Arsenal will refuse, I don't think we should either, but Wengers not the man to respend the money. We need shot of Diaby, Denilson, sagna, and replacements, but he'll probably buy Melo and thats probably about it.

Arsenal aren't going to win anything while Wenger maintains his faith in some truly awful players. I mean if you watched the world cup Diaby was one of the single worst performers, constant mistakes and huge mistakes leading directly to goals conceded, which is exactly the same as he plays for Arsenal. You don't need 11 Ronaldo's in terms of goal scoring and quality to win a league, but you can't win a league with even one player who consistantly makes game losing mistakes. Sagna, Diaby, Melo(who is secretly Denilson in disguise, on a higher paycheck and drunk) were 3 of the most ridiculously bad players at the world cup, they are exactly the types of players you can't win anything with.

The biggest issue is I can see Wenger buying more players of Diaby/Melo/Denilson/Sagna quality, rather than recognising how completely awful they are and replacing them.

To win the league we need, a replacement for Fabregas, a proper winger, a defensive midfielder, two cb's and a keeper. I think if we're lucky we'll get a short term GK solution at huge expense, one more CB, and I actually think Wenger won't replace Fabregas, but will have Rosicky/Arshavin/Ramsey play in there with a view to Ramsey being the long term replacement.

What matter of how they'll pay his wages, they've offloaded/offloading players that will more than pay for his wages. As for the whole transfer budget, they've already bought Villa, and realistically two big name buys, almost 100million(actually can't remember how much Villa went for). Frankly right now, banks, ridiculousness that is the Spanish league means Barca are in entirely no trouble financially, worst came to the worst, they'd sign a new shirt Sponsor on a 25-30million a year contract, minimum and would take on several other sponsors, realistically, they'll just get loans and debt writen off like Real and like Barca have had happen for decades also.

Not quire sure how you figure a 10million increase in their offer is, somehow insignificant, it wouldn't be.

The fact is that Fabregas is leaving, without question, be it this year, or next. Unlike Ronaldo, who was happy to sign a new big money contract at Utd, because they were winning everything, and the length and value of the contract, and the fact Ronaldo was instrumental in them winning stuff increased his value. Fabregas has no reason to sign a new contract, he's played one of the most influencial roles in a Euro and World cup double winning team, but his club has won smeg all for ages, won't win anything, and he's not just signed a big money long term contract. IE he'll be worth half as much next year.

35-40million now, or 20mil next summer. I obviously think incredibly highly of Fabregas, I'd love for him to see out his career at Arsenal, in reality, I'd take 40million this year over a far lower sum next season. Henry, Vieira, we lost 30mil on those two players keeping both for an entirely unproductive extra year.

Whilst I don't doubt that Fabregas will move it isn't going to be yet. Xavi and Inesta are not going anywhere and are not exactly over the hill so where is Fab going to fit into that system? Plus he is essential to Arsenal and potentially worth that amount of money in revenue through sponsorship and prize money etc
