Bargain? We'll see

I got myself a ATI branded HD5870 from said site, £200 received and was like new, bloke had 2 and only for funds would have bought the other as well. Best bargan i ever bought, Bloke who sold it was gutted it went for so cheap as 2nd card went for £290.:D

So there are bargans on there, if the card works ok think you have yourself and very good buy, also check the warranty on the card, think mine still has 2 years on it

now ebay has turned out wiered. listings are not listed in 'ending soonest' but rather 'best match' so those who have more feedback on ebay, those items will come up first.

Sadly it does not appear to work :(

Striker Extreme motherboard latest BIOS but maybe the video card BIOS is incompatible. Help? Please.

Sounds like a case of too good to be true.

Motherboard wise, there's no reason your card shouldn't work with it.

I end up with a single then three BIOS beeps and the top LED on the card glowing red.

Just had a look on ebay and the only 295gtx which was sold for £170.01 has this in the description.

i brought this card about 3 months ago with intention of having a water cooled gaming pc but 3 months on and still on water cooling thats why i am selling the card .

i brought this card in used condition and tryed it in my pc to see if it started up and it did just fine but as i haven't got water cooling thats the only test i can do .
this card will go great with any gaming pc .

It looks like owner booted the pc up with a watercooled gpu that wasnt connected to a watercooling loop. This is one thing you should never do as it will damage the card. There are warnings on watercooled cards sating not to do this for a reason.

I hope you get it sorted.

what a idoit, so basicly he over heated the card and possible damaged it

if it says watercooling it need watercooling.

Sorry OP the witting was on the wall :(

Sorry mate red is dead.... Though you still can try striping the card and reaplying some new tim. If that does'nt work time to preheat the oven...
Does the seller not take returns?

Also says this in the Q&A.

Q: hi is this item working? has it got any errors, fault, or odd behaviour? 02-Apr-10
A: i put it in my mother board and it works fine but could only run it as long as windows took to load up as there was no water cooling . but the top led was green and the bottom was blue which means its working and the person i brought it off said it works 100% but thats the only test i can do as i dont have water cooling

*facepalm*

Sounds like he fried/damaged it there.

Old friend of mine tried w/c after he saw mine. He did a cpu and gpu loop and forgot water for the gpu loop. Burnt out his 9700 pro by the time windows had booted.

Never trust some one that thinks bought is brought. :D

nothing stopping the seller from from getting a custom air cooler to try it with I persome that would work unless those are deigned never to come off
