Bargain X5!

Haha... It's a Bosch diagnostic kit, no problem reading the error codes.

The sensor is £80, not priced up fitting.

Thought I'd mention Kwik Fit for the Lolz ;)

Regarding high mileage - having recently had the turbo and injectors, wouldn't a car with this mileage be favourable over an 80k car approaching these big bills?

It would be reassuring for buyers knowing these have been done, especially if you have the paperwork for them. This has 50% more mileage than an 80k example though so not sure it would be favourable. There are other things that could go besides turbo and injectors.

As a buyer if my budget only stretched to this end of the X5 market, then I wouldn't be looking at X5's. Not everyone is as sensible or rational though :p

This thread is amazing.

How much for a new steering angle sensor and calibration if it needs replacing? Surprised kwik fit have the dealer level kit to code that :p

imagine it will be a few hundred quid to have a sas supplied and fitted. circa £150 for the sensor and 2/3 hours labour to fit. and are these not coded with the Vin number or something, I vaguely recall that.

this would requires some proper diagnostic gear that can calibrate it but your average sub 100 quid diagnostic tool wont be capable of this.

might be worth reseting the code though and run it for a few days to see if its an actual fault or some external influence that's caused the code to appear

I think it will fetch £5500-£6000.

Lets see what you want to sell it for in six months time yeah?

It will fetch £5500 at least all done

So where is your margin when the new owner rings up a week later saying you are a trader and the box is in limp-home mode?

You are bonkers to the extreme trying to trade in cars like this with a margin that slim and the fact you keep rushing to start new threads telling us what 'bargains' these cars are is confusing.

Who needs common sense when you know someone at Kwik Fit...

Why not buy a non premium brand car with no faults, low mileage and is within your budget?
Plenty of decent ford, vauxhalls etc out there or are you one of these people that base there entire ego on what car they drive even if they cant afford it?

No nothing to do with what I drive? I've mainly had jap cars myself. Done a lot of trading with Ford KA's before hand as I knew the market quite well and they are good sellers around here. Thought these 2 cars were a good but, maybe I'll be proven wrong!

The Clio I expect to fetch 2000, small profit for a days work. Realistically I hope the X5 will go for around 6000, giving a profit of around 1000 depending on work needed. Don't think I will lose money on either. I will sell them as I have sold the other cars, told the buyers I am part time trading from the house.

Didn't realise everyone was such an expert on here :D

As I said, just doing this as a side venture at the moment and looking for some opinions, more than appreciate all the feedback, certainly made me think twice if nothing else :)

Of course it will...thats why nobody else wanted it broken. If your gonna buy crap cars, buy cheap small crap cars that Joe Public wants to buy...

Doing that with KA's :p

Who says no one wants to buy this? The garage where she took it for diagnostic were ready to buy it there and then for 4500.

But they can fix it for free in their spare time when they are not working on customers cars for the cost of parts only.

You are tied into taking it to the dealer or a garage to hopefully fix it for you.
