Going for best value so ryzen 5 3600 and not the new 5000 series , using the included heatsink etc

That's why I suggested the cheap Bgrade 3600 for £140 or less if you make them an offer and then go for a 5900X in a couple of years when it's going for what the 5600X is going for now.Checked out the price of 5900x and noped out real quick. Even 5800x is eating most of the budget. Think i'll stay with 5600x for kids pc, will be going 5900x for my main workstation (Corel / Laser cutting graphics prep / occasional GIMP/PS job).

AMD are bringing out zen 3+ CPUs at the end of the year that will be faster again than the current 5000 ones although I'm not sure these will be supported by B450 boards so it may make sense to spend a bit more now and get a B550 while spending a bit less on the CPU then having the option of dropping in a stronger CPU later on.I initially started looking at it with 3600 in mind, but knowing how long i keep my tech alive i'm not sure i want one gen old tech to start with. This is why my old tech stayed old - no compatibility inter-generationally with intel - you get sandy, you stay with sandy. I just learned that, apparently, i can drop different gen's in the same motherboard with amd ? This confuses me a bit, to tell the truth...
The main difference is X570 supports PCIe gen 4.0 from the chipset while B550 only from the CPU so with B550 you can run 1 nvme at gen 4.0 speed while the other m.2 is gen 3.0 but on X570 both will run gen 4.0What would be the major differences between B550 and X570 ?
Ok, recalculating...
3600x
550(+?) mobo, as futureproof as possible (r7-r9?)
2x8gb ram
air cooler
What motherboard then in this scenario ? So tat when the time comes i can just drop in fatter cpu of 5000+ ?
The gaming 4 is not a very good board and has poor VRMs, the trouble with going X570 is you need to spend around £200 to get a good board while you can get some very good B550s for under £150.Thats a bit pricy ?
What about X570 Phantom Gaming 4 ?
