hmm i was using the WD harddrive test tool to check and rewrite both my 74gb raptors to make sure that they were ok.
I did the test that erasesd the data as i had nothing important on them.
So once done they came back error free, so i restarted XP
In my computer they were no longer showing up,,so i went into disk managment thinking that i just had to format them again.
now here is my problem , they will only allow me to format them as a dynamic disk.
what has happened and how can i fix them back to basic disks.

If you are using xp, admin tools, computer manager, right click on hd, then delete partition. Then go through the quick format thingy after you select the right option.

atm when i go into Disk managment the drives are Unallocated ( black ) with no partitions , and when i right click on them i only have properties & new volume, and when i select new voloume a pop up box automaticly appears which says :
Welcome to the new volume Wizzard.
This wizzard helps you create Volumes on Dynamic Disks

.........

I must be tired and missing something obvious, as never had this issue before.

when you scroll down to the hd, click on left of the drive and not on the graph, it will then say convert to.
