HI

I put this question on antoher posr but it got lost when more complicated issues came in so I would mightily appreciate it if someone could answer this simple question with a simple answer.

Im going to get an e2140 to run on a EVGA nForce 650i Ultra. It is my understanding that I will be able to overclock this to 2.66MHZ by merely changing fsb from 200 to 333 in the bios. No playing with extra fans, voltage settings, memory settings - right?

And what kind of memory would I need?

Many thanks

Masten

Yes that right your multi is 8 so 8 x 333= 2664 (ie 2.6ghz)

Personally i would go for at least 3ghz (8 x 375).

Get either of these memory.

GEIL 800mhz ULL
OR
Crucial Ballistix 800mhz

There both good but you would need to alter the voltage in bios to suit, as the Geil runs of 2.1V (+3) and the Crucial 2.2v(+4).

All newer memory now runs on 2.1v + so im afraid you will need to change some settings but I'm sure we can help you through it.

Not nesessarily true, as long as the memory is set to run 1:1 then you shouldn't have to fiddle with the ram, but it's always worth setting the ram speed/timings/voltage anyway, as stock speeds are almost always incorrect.

Also, you more than likely WILL need to increase the voltage to the cpu, but i wouldn't have thought by a huge ammount.

As for ram, i'd go for crucial ballistix pc5300 c3, nice and cheap, awsomely overclockable. Nuff said :D

That ram'll be fine, wont need to overclock it at all, not unless you want to push the cpu past 3.2ghz ;)

You can use any RAM with that motherboard as it runs asynchronously if you set it like that.

See this thread for how to overclock that board.
