Batman Arkham City - Thread

Is this going to be around the same demands PC spec wise as the last batman?

I got Batman Arkham in the steam sales - awesome game and worth the tenner I paid.. It ran fantastic at 1600 x 900 with 2 x AA high details, even on my laptop so I'd be interested in the PC version. I'm trying to give PC gaming another go after years of gaming on a PS3..

Batman AA is just one of those games I played and played so looking forward to this..

Around the same its using a slightly newer UT3 engine with better HDR lighting so you should be fine.

Should add that right now if you buy an Nvidia GPU from OCUK Nvidia are giving you a free copy of Akham City so if your considering building a new PC for gaming now is the time to do so as almost every recent Nvidia GPU is being bundled with BAC!

That would be cool... I'll wait for the PC version this time around then. I got the game for the PS3 last time, played it and completed it then it popped up in the steam summer sales.. I have no idea why I purchased it, along with Metro 2033 and ME1 but I did and loved it even more.

The graphics were superb on the PC, and again played it till I completed it. I'll hold out for the PC this time around then if the system requirements haven't changed much..

Only issue I had with the PC version was that stupid GFWL thing.. I lost my saves as I first used an offline account, then linked to the xbox live account, which it then forced an update of GFWL then realised I'd lost my saves... ??? I tried to restore but they were locked down or something, so had to start again - other then this, awesome game.

You can recover those if you backup the xlive folder beforehand....... Rocksteady deliberately encrypted them to limit piracy so it only worked with the gamertag used to play the game with an online GFWL profile or offline GFWL profile. Hopefully Rocksteady will not do it this time.

Just read this. Looks great

When Batman: Arkham City was first announced, we were excited, yet cautious of Rocksteady's ability to trump its stellar work in the first game. After all, Arkham Asylum was only the studio's second title since it was formed, but an immense one at that.
After playing this extensive slice of the core plot, we came away confident that not only will Arkham City surpass the original in every way, but that it will be a strong contender for 2011's game of the year.
With at least 40 hours of gameplay promised, a wide range of challenge rooms, and hundred upon hundreds of Riddler trophies for you to find, there is real substance beneath Arkham City's grimy veneer.

Rocksteady looks set to deliver an experience that will consume your life for months after launch, and the fact that the team produced Arkham City in the same time as the first game is nothing short of incredible. It's simply stunning. The studio has truly done the Dark Knight's legacy proud by sticking to the gothic style of the comics, as well as delivering the explosive action and thrilling stealth you'd come to expect from the franchise. It's the mother of all super hero games, and best of all, it's only a matter of weeks away.
40 hours! Very happy:)

Right, I’ve pre-ordered the game for PC. Mr AWPC, if my Dell 1749 laptop with i5 4GB and ATI 5650 1GB GPU doesn’t play this with ultra details with insane amounts of AA in at least DX11 mode at 1280 x 720 with v sync via my 42” plasma (this should look stunning I hope) to stop screen tearing – I’ll be posting to let you know how unhappy I am with you..!! : -)

Lol well I was going to get this for the PS3, but the PC version of Batman AA was such good fun with a 360 pad and offered such an improvement in visuals (screen tearing on the PS3 was apparent in places) I’m going to take a punt again with the PC version…

Hope I’ve made the right choice..!!

You should be fine but don't expect 60FPS when gliding across the city with a mobile GPU ;) Even if you have to turn AA down slightly it will still look much better than the console versions & DX11 will add a lot of extra eye candy ;) I think PC gamers everywhere will praise this game as one of the best ever made & it will certainly be one of the highlights of 2011 :D

I hope so, but for that to happen there needs to be much more freedom compared to AA. Different routes and choices would greatly improve the game. The only problem i had with AA was that it was too linear(and i often don't really mind that in games, so for me to say it, it must be!)

cool.. don't expect 60fps on a mobile GPU, 30fps with lots of eye candy at 1280 x 720 on a 42" plasma is all I want, as this is giving me better visuals and more control over v sync then a PS3...

So if I get this on my laptop meaning I can play the game on a big screen tv like it was a games console, then I'll be well happy..

Looking forward to this one..!!

Nightwing Revealed as a Playable Character in Arkham City

Leaked achievement/trophy list and screens add yet another protagonist.
According to a divulged list of achievements and trophies from xbox360achievements.org and sister site ps3trophies.org, the popular Nightwing is to torment the various ne'er-do-wells of Arkham City with his presence as a playable character.

The accolades in question can be seen below and hint towards a DLC pack around the character, much like the Robin content currently exclusively available through pre-order at certain retailers.
:D

The orginal is cheap now yes but i dont think they will be giving this away anytime soon in the sales, if its anything like the quality of the first it will sell well.

Keep an eye on green man gaming i got it from there with a 20% voucher i think + quidco
