Just noticed this on the site..

"Battlefield 1 is right around the corner, releasing worldwide on October 21 (or the 18th if you pre-order the Early Enlister Deluxe Edition). But your next chance to play is coming sooner than that – EA Access* and Origin Access* members can deploy on October 13 when the Play First Trial for Battlefield 1 releases, giving members ten hours of game time at the dawn of all-out war.

Five maps and four modes will be available, including St. Quentin Scar, Amiens, Sinai Desert, Fao Fortress and Suez in the Conquest, Rush, Operations, and Domination modes. There’s also a taste of the singleplayer campaign, with the missions Storm of Steel and Through Mud and Blood. Your progress carries over, too, if you decide to buy the full game after your Play First Trial ends.

EA Access and Origin Access members will also unlock content by playing between October 13 and October 20. You’ll be able to get an exclusive Trench Raider Dog Tag just for launching the game with the Play First Trial during that time – and if you play all ten hours before October 20, you’ll have a Battlepack waiting for you in the full game.

After the release of the Early Enlister Deluxe Edition, the rest of the maps and modes will open up (unless you’ve used all of your play time, that is). EA Access and Origin Access members also get 10% off if they decide to pick up the game, too! We can’t wait to see you on the battlefield."

I'm definitely going to be grabbing EA access to play the game early. Then deciding whether to actually buy it.

Does anyone know the cheapest region to buy from origin? Is it still mexico? Or has it moved to Brazil, India etc?

Got a free plane ticket with VPN airways so might take a short holiday.

Lol, depends how you look at it really. I already have Origin Access, and I get a whole LOAD more than 3.99 value out of it with the games in the vault. So it makes very little difference to me. Course I can fully understand why someone like yourself who doesnt really like BF1 or currently intend to buy it anyway, might view it the way you are

Regardless of if you like bf 1 or any other games, it doesn't change the fact that the "program" is a joke and just another way of milking even more money from people. Yes, £3.99 is nothing but for myself and I'm guessing twirly and probably others, it is more the principle of it, the same way we view parts of base game being cut out for DLC purposes + premium/season passes + micro-transactions.

And the problem with this access thing is if it catches on big time, how far will EA take it? Will there come a point that certain games will be exclusive to EA access members only... Just look at how DLC started out and where it is now....

Its only milking more money from people if those people really feel that their lives simply cannot be complete unless they absolutely MUST have this little extra bit of playtime for BF1. You dont get anything significant from playing it on these days, a person can do exactly the same with or without it. It really makes no difference. Now, its good for me because I already have Origin Access (for all the other games in the vault which I get for the token cost, I find it to be remarkably good value for the number of games I get for the price), that I get this little extra time on BF1 is simply a bonus to something that I already pay for anyway. It doesnt cost me a penny more and I would be just as happy without it. If someone doesnt like the 3.99 thing, then dont pay for it, thats well within their rights and I would fully endorse them to do that, its their choice. What I wont do though, is slate someone who decides not to pay that bit for it. Its their choice, I dont view it as a wrong decision, nor do I berate them for not getting it, nor do I belittle their decision.

One could ask the question is the problem a two way thing, that they are hoping that some people will pay extra for it combined with the gamer must-have-now mentality. Which would suggest that the problem lies in two places, both the company and the gamers who feel that they cannot do without, even if by having they gain nothing of consequence.

You have more or less voiced my concern in that last paragraph of yours, like I said, nothing wrong with £3.99, it is the possible effects that it might have on future gaming that concerns me. If this proves to be extremely profitable for EA then what is to stop them from making future BF games or any other highly demanded game for that matter... an exclusive title only available to EA access members? As well as possibly raising the price for the EA access...

And yes, I'm not blaming EA, at the end of the day, they are just like any other company out there i.e. they exist to make as much profit as possible. Unfortunately it is us, the consumers that are to blame for where DLC is now with premium/season passes and the majority of games being released in an unsatisfactory state largely thanks to incompetent developers and people playing the mugs game of pre-ordering.

the simple thing is though you are caught in a trap if you like bf games.

even if you dont like the process they know you want to play so your basically screwed.

Thats where willpower comes into it, people have to have the willpower and self control to say no its ok, I dont NEED that extra 3.99 worth of playtime, I will just wait for release. Sadly, many lack those attributes, the must-have now gene is rampant in gamers :)
