*** Battlefield 1 ***

Cant particularly see the point in that, your progress in the 10 hours (unlocks etc) are kept for release but if they are creating new accounts to get another 10 hour block they are effectively unlocking the same stuff

On Xbox you can use those 10 hours on the main account if your on the same console.

It's what sells these days mate. As gaming goes on, things get lazier, easier and more casual. Everything is made so no effort is needed, no learning is needed. Like all games now having cover mechanics, x-ray through walls etc. It's like society has become so dumb, devs think they can't make challenging games anymore

Unfortunately so, console casual players is where the money is at these days, this is why sniping is COD'ish and the new gun mechanics are the way they are now :( After that comment on battlefront and catering to people of all ages, we should have known from the get go that bf 1 was going to get dumbed down as well :(

If you can't do well with a sniper rifle that has zero bullet velocity and a shield to protect you from most gun fire or/and use weapons that get more accurate the longer you hold the LMB down then just:

- jump in a behemoth spamming artillery fire
- jump on a horse and ride around and hit a button for an insta kill when not even close to people...
- pick up a super solider outfit

Honestly, I am surprised that the card/gadget system from battlefront didn't make it into bf 1...

u boys should get shadow warrior 2 an actual decent PC release and 4 player campaign coop.. looks a lot of fun! will be getting it after im back from my holiday!

Hmmm that does look like fun, certainly something different as well, will watch more gameplay videos tomorrow and decide.

Unfortunately so, console casual players is where the money is at these days

Not just console casual players, players like me too. I've never gamed on a console but have gamed on computers for over 3 decades. However, I'm aged now, slower, my reactions arent as good as they once were and worst of all, I just dont get all that much time to game these days. For me, BF1 is perfect and thats why its where my money is going. If it had been more like, say.. Arma, then it may well of had realistic bullet drop and accuracy and spread and various other game features but it wouldnt have got my money because it just wouldnt have suited me at all, it simply wouldnt have provided the pure fun and pure entertainment I seek. So maybe its just casual gamer suited rather than console casual gamer suited.

(I'm absolutely fine with being considered a casual gamer, its what I am and there's nothing wrong or lesser about that of course)

Has anyone ever gone into a BF game thinking it's hardcore? It's many things but they've never been hardcore.

This is more casual than I like but it something I can jump in and play for a bit then log off and not feel I need to practice none stop. You want a proper challenge play something like Squad, Arma, CS:GO actual difficult games.

BF especially 3/4/1 and everything in between has been more on the Arcadey side.

Consoles are where most of the casuals are found :p

As mentioned earlier, I have no doubt that the gun mechanics and sniper rifles are the way they are now thanks to consoles and their crappy controllers, bf 3 and 4 weapons + sniping would have took too long to master on consoles.

I don't want arma either, I just wanted something similar to bf 3 and 4 :( BF was always a nice middle ground shooter, not too arma and not too cod.

Ooooh !!! Go on ! Then I can link post 3374 from the thread :)

Im going to have a lot of fun in the coming weeks linking peoples posts when they 180 on themselves :D

To be fair the reasons I am still resisting are still present.

No hardcore, arcadey **** gameplay, **** weapon handling.

All these are still present obviously and stopping me from buying the game.

Sorry but you won't get your internet cookies unless they have fixed the toss that this currently is.

e: just re-read my post #3374 as quoted, and yeah anyone spending £105 on this pile of consolised pump deserves everything they get.

There are better and more competitive games on offer for £30-20, the only genuine reason for buying this is 'huuuurrrr Battlefield!'

Then you have escaped my grasp, but I shall have my fun yet ! I am patient, eventually someone who went on record to state that they absolutely categorically would not buy BF1 will 180 and buy it and then I shall leap ! :D

Must admit I cant see really why someone would pay 105 quid for it, mind you I cant see why anyone would pay 105 quid for any video game. Personally I'm buying it for £35 , which is more like the 20-30 you mention. Purely for the reason that I find the game to be a **** ton of fun :)

Wow, it actually boots you out of the game to desktop the minute the 10 hours is up :( Thought it would at least wait til the round was over.

It is though, try and find a human that can take 15 shots to the chest and run off to magically reheal.

Thats not a way I look at it myself, it can be taken too far. One could equally say of past BF games, try and find a human who can get shot in the head and then respawn intact, or try and find a human who can get blown up by a direct hit from a tank shell and then have someone use a defibrillator and return him to full health and physical intactness, or try and find a human who can run around on the field of battle with an endless number of large ammo boxes and multiple weapons. The realism argument just falls over in 99% of games.

You can play hardcore in some games of course, with 1 or 2 bullet kills, permadeath and strict weight limits etc, but I just dont find those games fun and its fun and mucking about that I'm looking for, if I wanted a realistic experience I'd join the army (well, I wouldnt cause I'm too old but you know what I mean), its just a game and thats all I want it to be, something I can muck about on for the odd hour here and there and have a laugh and log off to do more important stuff with a smile on my face. Different strokes and all that though.

Mate its each to their own with games, if you're happy with it then who am I to question that.

But when you have guns that get more accurate as you spray fire, magical appearing zeppelins to aid the losing team, regenerating health if you hide and refuse to take part in combat, vehicles that are 3-4x the speed of their actuall WW1 versions.....

For a casual player who wants a consolised experience this seems great, I can't disagree with that. For anyone that wants either a) competitive gameplay or b) any hint of realism other than the timeframe then you need to look elsewhere IMO.

Most 35+ year olds can't handle games that require learning game mechanics, recoil control, map knowledge vehicle gameplay/infantry movement which are all the fun elements that made bf3 great.. all they wanna do nowadays is logon press W while holding left mouse button and 3600 DPI 9 button mouse until death screen.. repeat for 2 hours then go watch the only way is Essex with their other half until bed time.. that's about as casual as it gets..

In previous bf games mastering and fully learning the game ment that having that 1 player on your team was a massive advantage and could turn a game quiet easily.. bf3 jet/viper/t90 - bf4 littlebird/lav/boat etc... Instead with bf1 u get scripted crappy events halfway thru a game and every skill element goes out the window and so does the fun..

I'm off the airport.. have fun with the shiny shiny graphics..

Snipers are ridiculously powerful. I know people mentioned this already but I didn't really play as a scout in the beta. Signed up to origin access, had a couple of games with the assault class - got my arse handed to me. At one point I was bottom of the leaderboards. Switched to sniper and it's SO easy, It makes every other weapon useless. Anybody got any recommendations for weapon unlocks for assault?

suppression guns give you the most ammo in a magazine. The Mortar is good fun also.

You seem more excited by this prospect than the game. Are you one of those "told you so, I was right ner ner na ner ner" type people?

Totalbiscuit tweeted earlier "it's been interesting to see the role reversal of COD and BF, with BF now being the 'same ****, different hat' franchise"

The whole FPS industry needs some sort of shake up, probably actually the whole gaming industry.
